Without re-reading the whole thread, unless I've missed something, perhaps you should have advised her of your intentions, in writing, to sell elsewhere within x days if she didn't wish to continue. I get the impression you have left her to her own thoughts, and that she may have thought you were calling her bluff.

Put it down to experience Mike, and look on the bright side - you got the extra for the car tax!

Sorry but using words like 'idiot' from the very start does not convince me that you were a fair trader.
You did a deal and as far as I can see you reneged on the deal and if I were sitting in judgement you would have to pay for losses and a degree of compensation. The car tax issue is a side show and irrelevant in all this. I trust that other members do not behave in this way. This sort of behaviour is what makes using ebay a problem for many people.
It is time to end this thread and the attempt to wriggle out of a deal.

you dont offend me,your obviously out of the same mould as her,,the idiot mould. How anyone can think ive done anything wrong in this deal, is beyond me, im the first one to hold my hands up if ive done wrong, but in this instance I know i havent. Just back from hols and read this thread and feel for both Mike and the potential buyer.

In cases like this i always try and put myself in the position of each person and look at it from each side.

I would probably have done the thing no different than Mike. But on occasion i have chanced my arm on deals and lost out just like the lady did.

In life i could be either person but more likely to be Mike in this scenario

Mike, you seem to be happy with the decision you have taken, as I would have, had I been in your shoes. It seems she was trying to hold you over a Barrel for an item you didnt list. Why assume a car is taxed if its not in the advertisement

If you are still concerned about the harassment you may be getting from her, ask for a meeting in person, this generally sorts the men out from the boys. or in her case, level headed woman compared to an ebay tryer (theres thousands of em out there)
