Isn't the key question still whether it was possible to divert around the flooded bit, and approach the end of KLP's road from the opposite direction? Assuming the answer to that is something along the lines of "no, it's a dead end road" an appeal is worthwhile.

The access to the Copsewood estate where i live is through that one road. The other entrance was my road which is now a no entry. There was no other way to gain access to my house apart from a) driving through the flood b)performing an illegal turn.

Its not just that, a friend has just popped over in his MK2 Golf, he has water that has entered both footwells  Needless to say he's not happy!

I am since much much more careful, but I drove through some MAJOR floods in my E30 BMW. I conclude it is one water tight car!

On a serious note.... Cars can be very buoyant and it does not take a lot of water to get them floating. Yes they are NOT watertight, but they do float and a floating car is not a steerable one! :o :o Even Landrovers, but that's another story :)

hmm, the water on the picture can't be more than 4" deep on the left hand side in that first pic - you can see it's only just over the kerb at it's deepest point.

There aren't many cars (including lowered ones) that couldn't get through water that deep if driven sensibly.

Sorry, but That's not what I'd call deep and as you knew it was an illegal turn I don't think you have a leg to stand on.

If you follow the contour of the road, you'll realise its more than 4"! Its very deceptive, i remeber going through there in a Corsa on the left side, definately more than 4" of water.

There's a fault in the road design, there's a dip in the road there and the drain channels are continously blocked.

Also the pics were taken 1-2 hours after it rained and after i performed the illegal turn as i had to get back to work. It was sunny when i took the pics and the water level gradually comes down with time. But if you look in the 2nd pic you'll see form the truck height that its more than 4".

if you leave the pics of other cars going through the flood out of the equation, you could tell them you where not sure if there was hole in the road caused by some burst pipe or sewer collapse they may buy that one ????????

Here's a thought if you do get a fine wait till the next time it rains badly, then hit them with a counter claim. The idea being that due to their inability to keep their drains clear and your reluctance to incur a further fine, you drove through said water and damaged your car on an unseen submerged object or water ingress has damaged your car.You get the general idea I'm sure;)

Is the road flooding the responsibility of the council or the water board/council---whatever ? Don't know the demarcation south of the border so just asking?

Are you sure you weren't on your way to pick up you dinner from Pizza Hut and went the short route to stop your nachos getting cold and soggy? LOL-Good luck with your appeal, and glad your car remained dry:D

Ive had the misfortune of mis-judging the depth of the water there the last time I was at Nav's, but by the time I realised I was already in the middle of it. Lucky for me I was in the Sclass so I did raise the suspension.

I wouldappeal it, it seems everytime it rains that road floods, its simple fill the dip and clear the drains, its negligence on the councils behalf.

Hi,

Get a 4 x 4 :D No probs either way :bannana: :bannana:

Cheers,

Dieter

Also, 4x4s can't go round corners so there's no chance of doing an illegal turn :D
