Happy ending story after all, just need the weather to get better so you can really enjoy the car

Motorists are right not to trust car manufacturers on this issue.

The automotive industry worldwide has a very bad track record when it comes to costly safety recalls - from the Ford Pinto catching fire on rear impact
You beat me to it on that one. It baffles me why car manufacturers appear not to have learnt from Ford's Pinto experience when it comes to risk of vehicle fires from faulty components and/or assembly :dk:

Well the news is good.

Had a call from the excellent service team leader at MB Milton Keynes to say the car is all back together again, road tested and thoroughly cleaned up underneath. They have dealt with the situation excellently in my opinion, sympathetic, helpful and informative right throughout the process. He also informed me that as gesture of goodwill MBUK would consider paying the costs of having our driveway steam cleaned to remove the oil residue which seems very decent to me.

As is often the case in such circumstances problems quickly dissipate when dealt with efficiently and as far as MB Milton keynes are concerned they have definitely done that. I remain disappointed that this happned but the manner in which it has been treated by the local (non supplying) dealer has left a very positive impression and I can't wait to get my car back tomorrow.

Please remember that you dropped oil all over my driveway too. This was just before you tramped it through my house ruining my axminster carpets and leaving your oily hand prints al over my plasma telly and wifes bottom

And a lovely plasma it is you have too ;)

Was surprised by this gesture as it wasn't something I had asked for.

I'm not sure if you are trying to goad or not but you have been somewhat selective in your replaying of my assessment of the situation in post 1.

As stated in the original post the car was giving off a strong smell of burning and significant amounts of smoke. This was caused by leaking oil coming into contact with a hot exhaust. The tech said it was unfit to drive as a result. I am neither mechanic nor scientist but my gut feel is that is not a healthy combination.

I find it bizarre and more than a little disheartening that this thread seems to have lapsed into a situation where I am effectively being asked by some to justify my feelings and emotional reaction to the matter.

Thank you - yes it is a toy but honestly I don't care how much it did or didn't cost I have always found new cars exciting immaterial of size, shape, speed or price and would have been just as disappointed had it been a new Fiat Panda or similar.

It was factory order - looks like it just got lost down the cracks in terms of missing out on the replacemnet part at build time.

Thanks - dealer has been great so far so I'm hopeful of a first time fix.

I personally don't consider C63 owners to be "special".

Looking at your evidentiary threads of course other threads can go this way, that's a shame and a poor reflection on the forum.

As an aside your suggestion that C63 owners would get better response if they hid what car they own probably suggests an inate negative bias ?
glad it looks like a good result but sorry you had such a hard ride from DM. You are quite right to be a little upset and I don't blame you. I have been thinking hard about why the mere mention of a C63 provokes such unhelpful facetious posts and I have come to the concusion that it is pure jealousy.I for one go along with the suggestion that he refrains from posting on any threads involving C63s as the result is always the same.

Grow up.

Who mentioned C63? Not me.

But funnily enough not once did you respond to any of my replies rebutting your allegations as to my "demanding things weren't good enough" or similar.

You really are an odious and unpleasant little man. I suspect that you were bullied at school and have since experienced a serious relationship breakdown, possibly a marriage, and as such struggle to form genuine social interactions but the Internet affords you a vent and makes you feel righteous and important.

Ouch.

Nope not a fight at all in my book.

I have always thought that one should treat an Internet forum just as one would the lounge bar of a pub. If you wouldn't say it to somebody's face then don't say it in here.

So I'll repeat it here just as I would quite happily in a "real life" situation. I consider DM to be a rude and socially inept individual who is happy to hide behind the cloak of anonymity provided by the web. As previously stated I have views as to why his social development is so stunted which of course may or may not be true.

Maybe this thread should be closed - it seems to have run it's course.

There`s no need for the ^ :(
I know where you`re coming from as I too thought the same when I joined but I proved myself wrong when I meet with him

Love it or hate it,DM is like that in real life and not hiding behind the keyboard

All this forum needs is a national GTG where we can all meet one another and put all this behind

I'm jealous !

An excellent suggestion. Last time we tried we didn't get enough people, but maybe if set our sights slightly lower then we may be able to make it happen this year.

Agree with you,i can't understand why the said person isn't banned from this forum,he is the main reason why some people(including myself) don't post as much as they have done in the past........

Quite easily as long as a certain person doesn't contribute to any threads.................

Can't see what your problem is ? Having read the thread all I can see is that dm diagnosis the problem correctly as the car never set on fire and is now fix ..
