First impressions... a bit speechless really!:bannana:
A totally different animal to the C43, animal being the operative word. Steering directness and response is very un-mercedes like - the feedback gives you instant confidence, unlike the C43 which takes a while become confident with through the bends, largely due to the slightly vague steering. Overall the car feels more planted than a '43, but given the wider track and bespoke steering rack on the '55, that's no surprise. The two cars are a generation apart and that's how they feel in comparison to each other. On first impressions I actually preferred the noise of the '43 (sounds a bit beefier IMO), although standing outside the '55 and hearing the throttle blipped made me change my mind!

Power-wise the difference is really noticeable, and the way it delivers the power is perhaps a bit smoother, whilst being ferocious in kickdown - a license loser I think:devil:

The other thing to note is the sheer amount of toys I keep finding - not sure what is standard but so far I've found electric blinds, Harman Kardon pro logic surround, Command with bluetooth module, linguatronic, fire extinguisher, auto lights, auto wipers, dimming rvm, sunroof, cd changer etc etc.

Overall, an awesome machine and for me the ultimate Q car - virtually anonymous to all people except other car boffins who spot the four exhausts - which is the way I like it to be. So much less in your face than an M3 or RS4, great cars though they are. And great value! Overall - great!:thumb:

Just needs an A service and a ruddy good valet to make it sparkle...

I just love that feeling when you discover what your new car is like; what its got; how it gores; how much better than the one that went before (all seeking to justify the financial leap that it sometimes necessary )

Congratulations.

Marc

Crikey Tim - You don't mess about do you !

Good luck with the new motor - Sounds superb.

Congrats.The C55 is a monster of a car !

Post some pics soon! :D

Thanks guys

Pics to follow once it's been serviced and valeted:thumb:
Maybe new owner paranoia but engine has a bit of a whine to it (almost like its got a kompressor attached... if only). Anyone know if this is characteristic of the N/A 55 engines?

The C55 is a great car... loads of fun.... let me know if you have any questions. I'm no expert really, but a year's ownership has taught me some things!!!!

Sounds good, did you sell the 43 yet?

I have languinetronic, pasta comes out of the glovebox :thumb:

Linguatronic takes some getting used to. The system doesn't seem to understand me a lot of the time and says 'pardon' in a stern female voice - all very Germanic...

No not sold it yet - the 43 is on Pistonheads, contemplating ebay but there's a few on there at the moment so may wait until they've gone and then try it. Specialist market, am anticpating it'll take a bit of time to shift..

Is it black with the light interior?

If so, I think I know the car. It has every option available if it is the one I'm thinking of.

Would like a C55 but may end up skipping over it to a C63 if things at work keep going the way they do. I haven't been close to a C55 so I don't know what it sounds like. Enjoy ownership and post some pictures when you can.

No, it's black with black interior. But it does seem to have every available option. Just found the electric steering column today (maybe standard tho...) lights also seem to have a coming home function.. think I'll be finding stuff in a year's time!! Not figured out what the video button on the Comand system does:dk:

Is it black?

It sure is:thumb:

A true rocket ship - that V8 makes the most glorious noise, like Bryn Terfel gargling vintage port.

Enjoy!

nearly bought one in dec 08 for £12k from ford at dagenham needed a couple of bits doing but service history was not fully stamped up so gave it a miss, was very cheap though

Congratulations on the new toy, now get some pics posted. :thumb:
