I wouldn't surprised I'd they were trying to shift a load of dirtier diesels by slapping a hybrid badge on them

I could never understand the diesel hybrid combo in the E Class.

Maybe that's why they did it.

I see the betting is 6-1 against (i.e. 1-6) certainty to win a second term in May, so his taxes on cars are obviously popular.

As previously discussed 90% of the UK doesn't drive in the congestion zone, so plenty will still be queuing up to buy your car when eventually you come to sell it.

Given the 90% discount for local residents, it's still only a modest annual charge for living in the zone, being charged only on the days that you use it.

But bloody irritating all the same.

It's annoying that theres no grace period for folks like living in the newly extended area.

They always granted these periods in earlier iterations of CC & ULEZ.

On the upside there will be a couple of nice 124s hitting the market in the next 12 months.

Yes, they did, I was just thinking about that. I suppose the rationale this time is that the grace period was the time between announcement of the new zone and the implementation date. If they allowed further sunset time after introduction of the new zone it wouldn’t achieve much given that residents would be able to drive all over inner London for only a quid.

Anyway, many people in my neighbourhood are unprepared as yet: there are so many non-compliant cars still around my patch. As well as those 124s I reckon there’s going to be a huge glut of 6-10 year-old Audi Avant TDIs, which seems to have been the familienwagen of choice round my way for quite a while.

Reinforcing the point about Londoners being unprepared, in my Wimbledon Ghetto, i reckon a quarter of our cars are non-compliant ULEZ motors, especially 3 series, Golf, diesel SUV's, and various crappy old motors.

To Mike and SW18's points round my way there are tons of middle aged XC90's & X5's. And THOUSANDS of honky old VAG's.

Many of which really stink the place out. Wont miss them one iota.

Looks lovely, I always did like that colour. In fact one of my neighbours has one very like it (well, a bit shabby but same colour); it’s not their daily driver so I guess it may stay after ULEZ.
