mb c250td wont start

Next question! How to I advance or retard the timing? I can see the three 13mm bolts at the front end of the engine. I also se the 8mm hex bolt. Alegedly there is another bolt to slacken off but i cant find it. The engine is pinking quite a bit.
 
To move the IP you need to slacken the nuts round the pump to timing case flange, then the one at the rear of the pump.

I doubt the knocking is timing, more like a dribbling injector or air leaking into the fuel pipes.
 
Dieselman I cant find the nut at the back? I can slacken the front three 13mm bolts which have the flat nuts on the back. Where is the back nut in relation to the three flat nuts? cheers!
 
There should be a support bracket with a bolt through near the engine block.
 
As Dieselman said, it's at the back of the pump near the top.
