MB Website - Am I being thick???

I saw a gorgeous rasberry red W211 Eclass this morning and fell in love with the colour. I've tried to find out what it is on MBs website but they don't seem to show any colour or trim pictures.

Am I being thick or are they being tight and lazy?

What would you say the best colour interior is for it? Black sounds quite sultry (not a bad thing!) sandstone is no no and brown/beige might be a bit sickly with red. I won't even mention grey.

Any thoughts? I may have to go to dealer to see if they's got one in stock anywhere as I was about to order a Dark Green one (E220CDI).

Ta.

prolly "Titanite Red"

from MB's website:

I think grey leather would look great with that paint colour, black would look better, sand would prolly look quite nice too, almost ferrari-like :) .

I think I'd have to see the car in the metal to decide on it, not sure what it would look like from those pics.

What's wrong with Silver anyway?

Don't start on Silver again.

I nearly had Titanite Red but was dissuaded by the Salesman as he said when I traded it in nobody would want it. Sorry in my opinion Green falls in the same category mate.

Get brilliant silver mate and you can't go wrong when it comes trading in... :D :D :D

This is an "artist's impression" of what a w211 avantgarde would look like in magma red (non metallic). Slick eh? :)

Yes till you sell it. :D :D

Reslistically , and i know everyone will moan at this but ...

If its not silver , it will take longer to sell....

If people thought like that then why do I see Citroen's driving around? :)

Buying a car is very rarely an investment unless it's something with a 1+ year waiting list and you plan to sell it immediately, or you intend to keep the car for over 30 years in perfect condition :) .

Silver looks nice on all cars, but I'll be interested in how it's viewed in maybe 4 or 5 years time when there will be so many silver cars on the road that other colours will look more interesting! Remember when that copper colour was really popular and trendy in the mid 90s? Now people struggle to shift those cars second-hand because it's so unpopular!

There are some beautiful colours on offer for the w211, seems a shame that 50% of people choose silver and 25% choose black.

I haven't seen many I like other than the Silvers/Black's/Gray's (oh and of course Tealite :)) although I don't think I'd go for my colour again, it is too boring.

I'd like to actually see some W211's in the other colours, but the dealers never have any!

Cubanite silver is nice - my previous car (03 plate) was in cubanite silver and got lots of compliments...

Some people need to go Designo then, you can be as tasteless as you like! :D

It looks very close to Titanite Red, Shude, but not quite so pink. Raspberry's still the colour that sticks in my mind It's a very warm colour. That's probably down the graphics on the pictures though.

The Magma looks awful (sorry) and nothing like the one I saw. Makes it look like a pimps car. Which is fine if you're a pimp.

Can't do sliver - reminds me of a posh taxi. And Tealite Blue is too close to Silver (someone dropped a blue ink pen into the silver paint tin :-) ). Sorry Richard.

Fortunately for me I've naff all worries about it's resale as it's a company car hence I'm also choosing a manual with standard part leather but lets not go there again. I know both these are absolute no-no's for big mercs but I can't justify the cost of the extras due to our measly car allowance.

And as you mention Titanite Red with a Brown looking like a Ferrari you may have swing my opinion...

I've going to hunt round the merc garages this weekend to see if I can find one.

Andy.

P.S. I actually like silver but it's like a 3 series beemer. Everyones got one.

I only said I liked it to keep Bryan happy... :)

Shude,

I stand corrected. It's bluer than I thought. Also it was Brians car not Richards! All in all a total balls up. Apologies to everyone, I'll just go and sit in the corner for a while. I was trying to scroll back through all the messages while posting my own and got mixed up. Too many scrolling bars and windows. Modern technology eh.

Still don't want either colour though!

Brian,

Great photos. Looking at the shots of your rear seat area in grey it looks great. Makes me thing having it in black would look very dark and possibly more confined. May have to go with brown as a result.

It's nice though isn't it?

If I was going to get a w211 I'd go for 189 green-black, same colour as my w202 :) . I've never seen a w211 in that colour IRL but I'm sure it would look great! See if you can find a w211 in a stealership with a part-leather interior so you know what they look like, for some reason MB seem to think people want horrific patterns on their cloth, the black looks a bit tacky, maybe the grey is nicer? A lighter interior colour will also make the interior look bigger :) .

I pondered over colours for weeks, I ordered the car and firmed up on the colours later.

Take the advise of Shude see them in the flesh before finalising mate. They look better than the brochures.

My father had a green/black - was nice colour - especially in direct sun light but difficult to keep clean - slightest bit of dust, dirt would show and require a wash - nice colour though...

Only thing I dislike about dark colours is that swirl marks stand out like anything with a little bit of sun light more than other colours i.e. silver...

I think the only interior colours to go for are anthracite black or palma grey, in my opinion (which doesn't mean much) blue and sand (beige) both look naff. I was going to go for anthracite so it wouldn't show the dark but really liked the palma grey car I saw as it felt so much more spacious.
