Meet Silvia the s211 e55 7 seater

I knew you might say that. Sometimes though it is OK to accept some help when times are tough. However I understand your position & pride.

I have an XC90 7 seater 4.4 V8 sitting in my garden doing nothing. Your are more than welcome to have it for use for as long as you need if that helps another way. It is not precious to me as was a work horse I bought cheap owes me little. I don't get to help people much but maybe I can here.

You have Pm with a Explanation Sir :thumb:

I think that is different buddy, I believe the e55's run two pumps and that is only one "i think" the Part number in question is

Alex has got fuel pumps for sale

You are right Gav sorry. I thought with the using the same tank and similar size engine they might use the same senders.

Back on the hunt :)

No apologies needed bud thankyou for looking :)

doh... will have a look

He hasn’t listed them I don’t think but I remember reading a post of his where he mentioned he did :)

Remember he fitted a full custom system to his e55 :-)

Just pm him, he’s a very nice guy :)

Just read the whole thread and it is very sad to hear of your woes with this car.

The passion you have is amazing, but I totally understand your decision to sell. Life’s too short to be living in a stressed environment and as much as we all love our cars, our families and loved ones come first.

The car is still an excellent example and one that has improved in your ownership.....

Good luck with sale Gav

Just seen your advert Gav, I’m really sorry how it’s panned out and I hope your luck changes very soon pal.

And remember - don’t let the bastards grind you down!

Sad news but I would probably do the same.

You haven't owned the car for long, both the gearbox issue and fuel tank issue is just too much (financially as well).

I’ve just read this thread from start to finish and know a little about how you are feeling.

Our baby son had a significant operation at 3 weeks old earlier in the year swiftly followed by my W124 cab playing up in many varied and annoying ways.

I parked the piece of crap where I couldn’t see it, and it couldn’t annoy me.

When I got to a more ‘level’ place I got the car fixed and have long forgotten the pain it caused then!

I well understand wanting to get rid and have done so in the past, but car sales can be sometimes tricky too.

I enjoy greatly taking my son and other children out in the cabrio now and would have regretted selling it.

I wish you all the best, it’ll be alright !!!!!

Hi Gav......please excuse me for being blank but i have got lost with the problem with so many post`s?

What is actually the matter with the fuel pumps or new tank being a later model?
Did the pumps work ok before you actually put them back in the tank, did you run them outside the tank?
Of course this may be a waste of time but as said i have been thrown off the problem and cannot work it out.

The reason i ask is because strange things happen when anything "fuel" is removed from the motor.
The petrol contained dries out if the part is left not working for too long and dust and dirt in the now evaporated fuel does block up any
route which the fuel usually flows through.
I remember once removing the twin carbs from my old mini cooper and laid them upside down and the fuel ran out and caused muck to block the
passageways etc. ....car would not start ......next time kept the carbs upright and when put back no problem.

Your motor was left without fuel running through the pipes or passageways for quite a while because the wrong tank arrived?
Is the polarity of the pumps correct with any new parts as they could run backwards so causing your weak supply?

As said probably a waste of time but has everything been checked as i cannot believe that the pumps will not work in your new tank.

Surely the pumps could be removed from the swirl pots and replaced with new Walbro ones etc.?

Good Luck

WELL..... UPDATE TIME!

Borrowed the Bore scope, And with the help of a Friend we went right over everything, The Tank has a Leak in the Centre Channel, its soaked, and has been for ages, only coming to light when the tank is full, Driving it half full it wont be leaking. It's All dry around the senders and pumps. The tank will have to come out for further investigation, and replacement.

So i would just like to thank the Seller "Mr Fixit" THE FORUM member for selling me the car and disclosing the 2 ATF fluid changes only 100 miles apart before i bought the car not quite sure why you'd do that, Disclosing the gearbox issue, which he didnt know about even though every journey from cold was banging, and disclosing the fuel tank leak not like its a hazard or anything, you know being a 7 seater carrying humm children?

I've been very quiet mentioning the above didn't think it was right but unfortunately and especially after not receiving any "Gift" or the "something" through the post to my address that the Seller said he had.
I thought well you know Mr Fixit doesn't quite live up to his name does he? because this car is far from fixed?

It will be, I'm not going to mention the above member again he is now forgotten from my memory my Sick Son did send him a thankyou text though, before he has togo to Great Ormond Street hospital for his Operation.

Feeling a little sick inside, and far from saine but people should release selling the likes of the above vehicle does indeed have a impact on someone elses life and family. I know i couldnt do it. Line now drawn

I'm replying here as this is simply untrue and very unfair if not deflamatry. The car came from a collection and has been standing a while and Gav was informed, MB fully inspected the car upon my purchase as they have with all mine (C32, C55, E55 and this was my 3rd E55) and confimed it was fine with only a wiper plade needing repalcing, I aslo repalced the air units with Arnott ones before the car was sold. They (MB) changed the ATF when i put the car in for the inspection and then again as a prequation when I asked about the box.
Gav also tested the car FROM cold but on a warm day, the box was checked by MB Braintree and nothing reported and invoiced. as far as the fuel goes I always brimmed the car and neve had an issue.
I sold the car in good faith and Gav, who clearly knows these better than me went right through it even bringing a friend to help. he went through all the documentation and made an offer in no way did I hide or disguise anything.
I'm very disturbed and distressed by this but note that at a point through this thread he is delighted and in love with the car and its performs faultlessly.
Until I saw the add today I only spoke to gav about the box and reiterated what MD told me (what else can I do) and had no idea (no text either) of the extent of his woes;-When I saw the ad today I was so concerned I was considering offering to take the car back or refunding some of the purchase price but that was until I read this along with his Ad.

FYI the 'gift was going to be a box of sent for Christmas as a surprise and 12 on or beers!

I'm well aware I may open myself up BUt I was straight with Gav as I have been with all my cars (sold a few though the forum) and am now just annoyed and insulted

I was wondering why you hadn’t replied before. Certainly is interesting to hear both sides of the story.

It just seems an unlucky thing to have happened, hopefully it’ll be fixed soon enough.

I did suggest that Gav talks to MB Braintree who is Waterhouse as are Chelmsford even preempting this with Shaun at Waterhouse but this seems to have been ignored, I honestly had no idea as to any of the other issues especially the fuel tank, I simply would not have sold it had I known but some things do seem to be self-inflicted such as rad hoses coming off.

I do think that the timing has bee unfortunate for which I sympathise and, with everything in Gav's world, the E55 can be seen as the Elephant in the room but he's nearly there and I think he will regret this sale in the future, as like him I have a knackered back (new metal vertebrae to be put in my neck) and this was the most comfortable car I have had an I wanted air suspension (now have an E350 CDi with air)

If I can help, within reason, I will so I have taken the librty of asking Waterhouse about the fuel pumps for an E55!
