Meet Silvia the s211 e55 7 seater

Yep spot on Pat, There's nothing wrong with the pot or sender, so i thought id change the pumps, The Stock pumps flow around 300LPH each, The Walbro's flow 400LPH and my God the power is there as soon as you press the pedol lol jeez seriously it blooming flies! of course the old pumps were struggling so the difference maybe not so noticeable to anyone who has good working pumps.

well beyond me and really please its sorted

Sealed for life they said,, Errrr i think not!

I spilt some of the Black fuel upon opening but you get the idea, lots of swarf in the bottom from the pumps i reckon

No markings on the Filter, BUt i have the diamensions and a supplier of ours does them, So i've ordered a new filter and seal then a clean and reassemble it and its good togo again :)

To late for me but may help someone else out. ;)

Where are they from, I thought you reused old parts?

Surely there is a pressure regulator so despite a higher pump output the overall fuel delivery pressure will remain the same unless the original pump did not reach the regulated maximum? Injectors also have a flow limit unless upgraded?

Unsure how you can compare pumps directly unless you are using the same units to compare, 225psi and 400lph (not m) is not a comparison.

Also, increasing fuel flow alone without increasing air / oxygen intake and exhaust would not produce more power?

Yes, it is difficult to understand.

I made a mistake the 225 is litres per minute and not psi so is the same measurement.

Most manufacturers run their injectors at 85% of the Duty Cycle so you can tune your motor quite easily without upgrading them.

The Fuel pump set`s the fuel pressure to the FPR which is adjusted by the vacuum in the inlet manifold according to throttle opening etc.
So it reduces the pressure to suit what the engine wants in terms of fuel.......the rest of the fuel it doesn`t want is used by the Return To Tank system.
So fuel pressure if higher is a good thing as the engine will only use what it wants depending on manifold pressure.

If the Air Filter System is tuned or is a very good design the engine will produce more vacuum as it CAN burn more fuel if it wants and so the extra air is measured by the MAF and let`s more fuel in with the extra air....the injectors then may be on a +5% more cycle as they can handle that.

So more fuel + more air = more go which Gav has noticed.......simples

I do not find it difficult to understand and I am also quite conversant with the Physics and Chemistry of combustion.

It is however difficult to understand when an argument is poorly presented with confusing and unrelated units of measurement.

You are also now introducing variables such as "If the Air Filter System is tuned" which was not mentioned nor I believe implicit in your post hence my asking questions.

Think I may get (after taking my tank out).

The right side has the pumps, doubled up, the left side has the filter?

Just got back from a weekend at the Brooklands Hotel nr Mercedes Benz world, It was a Treat from my wife as a 40th Brithday preasant, We both had a wonderful time apart from the obvious, Yep The Mercedes broke again.

Started off as a little whine when cold, didnt sound much, Got to Brooklands Friday evening the noise from the car steadily getting louded, but it would get quieter above 2k rpm.

I was thinking it could be the Gearbox Pump as it was RPM dependant and constant, I will know for sure when i start the car in the Morning as it's really oud then.

Once we got home this evening i whipped the belts off and had a look, spinning up the pulleys by hand until i found this, Also has end float in the pulley so fingers crossed its nothing more than a waterpump. This car really wants me to break it im sure...

SKF Waterpump was only around £65 for my car.
Good luck

I hope you enjoyed your Birthday Weekend away!

It was Great Buddy, always wanted to stay there and deserves a thread of its own lol, My wife treated us to One of the Suite's on the Top floor so we had a great view of the Track with people having hot laps, Although it did rain somewhat it was still amazing to see and hear the v6 and v8 turbo's pounding around there.

We got back at 4.30pm this afternoon, blooming knackered and we have tobe away by 5am for the trip to GOSH in the morning.
