Meet Silvia the s211 e55 7 seater

They are activated charcoal filters and as Gav said they are not cheap so most people don't replace them (or probably use them!). They are intended for when following HGVs (or taxis etc) to filer out the smoke etc. I had them on my W210 but they were only fitted to cars with auto climate control. Not sure of the set up on a W211 but I would have thought being the top spec they all have climate and therefor this filter too but obviously not.

Morning Peeps, Dam fine ass lol

With a name like Jenson and already at ease in set of racing overalls a career in F1 beckons. Not sure which team he's driving for can't quite make out the logo______? Novel driver/ pit communication device too. May soon be adopted by all the F1 teams giving rise to the phrase " And Vettel has really spat out his dummy after that last overtaking manoeuvre";)

Haha that did make me chuckle sir ;)

Great News, he is looking good :)

Great to see him up and about.

Well done the Oil filter change... Wow so quiet now!! now i usually Opt for Mobil 1 0w40, i did however buy some Genuine Mb 0w40 oil and used that on the last change as thats what i had left over from the last 55,

For the 1st time i've used Castrol 5w40 and had noticed its been on 5w40 since 2007, so will be keeping with that from now on as the car does seem to be so much quieter.

Also to note i've covered 2,100 miles since July, for me thats a dam lot , i better start easing off lol

My indy recommends the 5w/40 over the 0w/40 for higher mileage AMG's Gav.
Mine has been on 5w/40 since I bought the car back in July '13.

And great to see your lad back home again:banana:. Hope for a speedy recovery.

Quite a difference there.

You go for OEM or Lemforder?
Noticed 1 x Lemforder over at Amazon for less than thirty quid.

I thought the OEM for most suspension is Lemforder Pat?

I think it is for a lot of parts but remember you can buy with a Mercedes logo/in a Mercedes bag for xx price or maybe Lemforder of Meyle for x price. ;)

Example is the propshaft coupling on the E55 (A0004110600), £180 from Mercedes or £65~£90 for Meyle or Febi.

Replacements are FEBI as we are a Stockist of there's Although the actual Part is a Boge Unit, Will be fitting the pair tonight fingers crossed.

Well finished the Job off, and tbh it didnt enjoy it lol, It was hard working on the floor with 4 axle stands, I did do it the Exhaust removal root, And you dont have to take the whole lot off, Mine is welded in all one but i got away with dropping the whole lot apart from the rear silencers.

The 2x 16mm on top of the mounts were a right Pain to get at and tbh im going to get the right tool just to much sure there tight enough although im pretty sure they are.

The car drives totally like new, and is so much quieter inside and outside, No vibs at all. The nsf mount had exploded lol and was leaking oil.

Still its another job finished and i can concentrate more on the cosmetic side of things now all the mechanics are done.

Wheels / tyres and nsf wing are next on the list but for now, I will say it lol i'm just going to drive it and enjoy it. :)

Good work Gav.

Always nice to get little jobs like this done.

Don't envy you having to lay on your back to do this with the car on stands but hats off to you for getting on with it and getting it done.
