Well the noise hasn't got any worse beginning to think it perhaps normal, The car also had a miss fire 1st thing in the mornings and had got quite alot worse just after i did the plugs.

So this happened

Old leads were chicken crispy, so changed those car now runs great, I also changed the Flywheel sensor as we all know these give up the Ghost, Genuine Bosch one went back in as a unbranded one came out.

And other item i did which i found made a difference with brutus was the Intake temp sensor, Febi replacement item.

The car absolutely fly's now! She has covered 103,200 miles and i've spent aprox £3,000 in repairs and maintance lol so we are averaging about 1k a month pmsl. NEXT PLEASE!

Thankyou also to all the staff at GOSH, excellent as usual,
Glad it went well...what ward is he on (PM if you'd rather not say on here)?

Pm'd Sir.

For the front mounts, screw what people say where you can pull it from the front without taking the exhaust off. As I have done this job before, removing the exhaust on each side is by far the easiest and less stressful way.

Re mounts, i was going to drop the steering rack a fraction and remove them that way.

Excellent idea. ^

So you going to add the covers overs some of the areas in the engine bay like you did to Brutus?:p

Humm not sure, maybe tbh i still keep looking at ML's i know i know i must be mad but dont be surprised if i get one.

Treated the car to a Pair of interior Carbon filters today, For anyone who doesn't know these are quite expensive and are found adjacent to the airbox passenger footwell.

To release, you slide the Grey tab across the pull the panel down, Then use the built in tab on the filter to pull it out noting the Air flow Left to right, One of mine had been fitted the incorrect way round despite both being Genuine Mb.

One of the Old filters out, This one Date marked 2013 so they had indeed been changed before.

Small detail but its another job jobbed, car dosen't really want for much now apart from the 2x Engine mounts which i will get on with soon, Still have a trip to London tomorrow to take some clean clothes up to the Wife and see the boy.
Certainly give the car another run although our recent trip saw it complete 400 miles round trip averaging 25mpg.

She has full tank "which doesn't leak" lol of V-power to get through and perhaps a oil n filter change shortly after as i like to do one every 3k miles.

Just out of interest, why do you change the oil every 3k instead of following MB’s schedule?

I’m guessing you get the oil cheap but at £100ish a pop for mobil1 that’s like £300 extra a year on oil changes assuming 12k per year miles!

Is that part A2118300818 ?

Take it not all of them have these 2 filters, mine shows on EPC as having the 2 x filter covers but "not applicable" for the actual filters.
Shows as having the charcoal filter in the engine compartment but not in the left/passenger footwell.

I'm surprised at that as our other W211's have filters in this location, I've not looked on the E55 though.

Because its something i've always done, We buy oil really well and it all comes out of my business along with filters etc so it's silly not to, Anything my cars ever need they get as its my trade.

Mileage wise i reckon 6-9k is what id cover, but like i've said i'm not really worried regardless of miles thats what i always have done.

Yep that matches the part number in the pic buddy, Brutus had them , and i changed those, This one has them too, Not sure if they all do, i've also done the under bonnet one when i first got the car.

Thanks, there's a Cooperfiaam part on amazon for £7.33 ;)

Seems to be removed with the 805 year modification.

Tbh it wouldn't surprise me, probably just a added cost i've never used them, Apparently there activated by the switch on the dash.

Re mounts, i was going to drop the steering rack a fraction and remove them that way.
I had a look at that area before hand, just looks like a right pain in the butt to squeeze the mounts out.

A plus side from the exhaust route, no special tool was required as I could fit a 16mm spanner in there to undo the top bolts. Oh... I did only drop the exhaust and not fully remove it.
