Meet Silvia the s211 e55 7 seater

Yes sorry Peeps, Had the Later covers fitted like i did with my last 55. Tidy's the Bay up imho. :)

Didn't know they existed  Looks really good, very tidy :)

Have you got a p/n Gav? and rough cost? Will pick up a set for my S211 too :)

Part numbers

A002 988 05 42 X4 LATCH
A211 831 00 14 X2 BRACKET
A211 831 01 14 X2 BRACKET
A211 832 05 08 X1 COVER
A211 832 06 08 X1 COVER

I think the Retail was around £70 for everything, There very easy to fit the Brackets simply slid of the Sheet metal of the wing/inner wing and engine bay Bulkhead, then the Latches clip through twist and turn to locate the covers in place.

Didn't know they existed  Looks really good, very tidy :)

I've had 3, 211's now and non have had these covers fitted, there must be a year change perhaps 2006- onwards were they were standard fitment.

Just think it helps weather protection and tidy things up :)

I've had the Back bumper off, 1 to realign it all as it had a small knock out of place at some point so was uneven, 2 it also gave me a good excuse to have a clean up. :)

Sorry for the poor pic's i didnt have much room to work in tbh as id back ed the car in and the weather has been carp lol so made use of the space i had.

I was going to polish up the very rear but it seemed to have a covering of some sort of wax? So left that as it was But i did do the very rear 1/4's.

It was all completely rust free too :)

I also attended to the rear exhausts trims which have come up very well.

I also brushed up the crash bar too and removed all the mud.

Be honest Gav main reason you took it off was to give those exhausts a good polish! :D

Looking tidy though, was it easy enough to remove and refit that bumper? :)

Even on my ‘63 I’d be tempted to whip it off to clean properly behind there if I had the time, small details make all the difference though :thumb:

Lol ok Will you got me on that one, Yes it was much easier to clean the exhausts haha but i did the rest too ;)

The Bumper comes off really easy but the PDC was a complete nightmare, I actually left it connected and laid the bumper to one side as there was plenty of give in the harness.

The Bumper has 4 Upper fixing points each side, 2x Straps at the very rear on the underside valence, Along with 2 plastics push fits one each side holding the rear splash guard to the bumper itself. The car doesn't have tobe jacked up, all the fixings are 10mm and the rear wheels can be left on, Though it would be slightly easy if they were off but not necessary.

Can’t see a massive difference on camera but I bet it looks amazing in real life!!!! :)

I reckon it's the same one, just had a little 'photoshop' work, that's all ;);)

Only joking G, you can see the difference on this medium so it must very different in real life! Car looks great, as always & if ever you get bored tinkering with yours . . . .

LOL mattk1 , The old one has Tiny stone chip's peppered in them which the camera doesn't show, But i real life it detracts the front end.

Nsf bumper chrome is also damaged alittle so i will getting a pair of those, and when i;ve won the lottery perhaps a new pair of headlamps pmsl

Id be to afraid to go near any of your vehicles mattk1, especially the sl63 ;) lol

I love your eye for detail, we used to call it OCD lol. you mention headlights, hard to see whats up but if not as clear as you would like will they not polish with polisher and cutting compound.

Well not much to Add really these days, Silvia has been behaving itself, Just noticed Some minor play in the Bottom Ball joint so that will be getting done, infact i will be changing all the front arm's and ball joints at the same time.

I've been reading a few threads on the dreaded Oil Pumps in these m113k's and you know me it's been playing on my mind. Soooooo yep you guessed it.....

Not the greatest of gauges, and it was fiddly, i had a customer make up a Test union, m12 x 1.5 Oil pressure sendor he cut off the end and soldered/braized a1/8bsp thread to suit my USA Gauge kit.

I got the PDF for testing from MB and since i litterly had just done a Oil and filter change i thought id test it.
I had a fun 40 mile Drive in the car in Manual mode sport 1 so i did push it within lmits of course to get her nice and Hot!! and Hot it was!

Tick over was 1.44 bar which is what i know the Old cars i had was when they were hot, My w126's and w124's, Rising to well over 3.5 bar instantly when blipping the throttle Which my 10 year old Son enjoyed doing.

I did have to bleed the gauge which was interetsing "OIL everywhere" doh! it was only for a split second but by god did it come out at a rate of notts!

That lead me to a Detailing session lol..

Now i know the Oil pressure is Bang on i will be fitting Oil pressure sendor in place of the blank, a RED LED which will come on if the pressure ever did drop to dangerous levels, Hey better than nothing i'm sure. I didn't want to have a gauge stuck in the car as it would spoil the Originality.

Think he uses Facebook for hosting Bob, the images tend to stop showing after a while
