Mercedes Vito Gearbox Jumps out of first gear

hi there new to the forum i have a mercedes vito 6 speed manual 109 Cdi on a 2004 which jumps out of first gear. Most probably i will need a new gearbox but i have been told that the E Class E220 Cdi or C class C220 CDi gearbox is same, not quite sure on this any help would be appreciated?

Why don't you have it repaired rather than replaced?

You should be able to get it refurbed for about £400, it's quite a common problem on the 639 Vitos.

hi there i have been quoted £1200 for a complete refurb and £700 from another company, a second hand gearbox for a vito costs £600 and for the mercedes e220 and c220 costs £300, so just wanted to know if they are the same as i was told by someone that they are the same but they were not 100% sure on that.

I've got a freind with a c220 who's been having the same problem, any resolution yet?

On the sprinters, there is some issue with the selector cables, our sprinter recovery truck did this, we replaced the cables and its been fine ever since.
