Mercedes W114 250 Coupe - help!

How do you latch your seats shut Mr R?

They're ahem, Saab seats Charles iyrc. They don't need latched.

Now I need to work out how to get the rubber bumper strips on, they are a b ugger to do.

On an SL they fit over a T section on the chrome. They fit by folding them back on themselves which opens the slot in the rubber.

.

Tried to make some sense of the vacuum pipes before the carpets go in but got bored and fitted the wheel trims instead. A lovely willow green E type Mk2 shared the bodyshop, with a red Mustang being stripped for paint and a black 911 in the booth. Not a single metallic to be seen - in the shop. Brunnhilde is half way through a touch up, flat and polish before going 20 yards on for carpet fitting.

Your car looks absolutely delicious.

Looking really good now Charles. When is the formal launching ceremony - bottle of champagne etc etc??

If anyone thinks I'm launching this beauty into the sea after smashing a champagne bottle on her, think again...

She has to be finished off so she is road legal and runs like an everyday car. Anyway dear old MB Bodycraft (Matt B in case of confusion) has finished the polishing and she looks ravishing. I missed the sunshine though so only one good exposure. Now she's over at Jerry for the full interior fitting.

Gorgeous car Charles!:thumb:

Absolutely superb. The agonising of the choice of colour, well worth it, I dont think it could look better in any other colour.

Looking amazing Charles. Well worth all the effort :thumb:

Cheers,

Gaz

A big improvement in my mind too JJJr, accentuated by the lower stance as well.

As good as that 190SL at Brooklands, if not better !!

A bit of craftwork from Jerry's team. The old door cards were just a bit past it, so new card is being cut out so the irreplaceable vinyl can be put back and held in place much better. Like is being done in plywood for the parcel shelf carpet.

While likely to increase door rigidity I'm not sure substituting a rigid panel for a semi rigid one won't have an effect on door panel resonance - may improve it- may amplify it? Not really up on the acoustics of these things??

It's semi-rigid card Graham. As the two door cards on either side are mirror images the two have been stapled together for cutting, but in a single piece it's about the same flexibility as the old one, obviously adjusting for the old one being broken...

Fair enough- got the wrong impression from the picture! :o

Parcel shelf now carpeted. Colour contrast between the grey paint and the red interior exactly as I wanted.

Carpets going in - really rich colour

Door card - upper bit authentic but re-carded, lower bit re-trimmed with an almost exact match, and armrest re-sprayed to match.

As I'd taken the seats to pieces I put them back together. A real ballsache of a job, easier with the second, but still took an hour

One of the fiddliest jobs, to get the locking point for the seat into the latching mechanism so when a vacuum is applied, it locks the seat backs.
