Mercedes W114 250 Coupe - help!

Sadly, no. They will be receiving a missive tomorrow.

All will be explained in the fullness of time.

We can only find out - they have Elvis, the VW splitty in for some work over the winter, which was painted with their then best lacquer only a year or so ago, so we can see what it looks like in comparison.

A missive back from KHM this morning. The carpets are done and the seat covers sewn, and partly fitted. Should be the end of this week for completion. Will the progress never end?!

When this is all over and done with Charles, what will you do to fill the twenty two hours a day you've gained?

For the last week I have been pondering probably the most important decision I shall make.

De badge the car or stick it back on? The former means the boot lid will only have the star and a chrome handle, showing off the flawless paintwork, the latter, holes will have to be drilled and the rather poor quality aluminium model designation will un-balance the rear.

And you need us to help you decide? ;)

It's an interactive thread. I mean, I finally decided on the colour about 100 times before changing my mind!

Not that I plan to here...

I could stick it on, but the metal rather resembles cheap cake decorations I remember as a child.

Leave the badges off Charles, your car transcends such things.

As I'm lowering the car with sportier springs and shocks, if it was a modern Benz it would be called an AMG line or something, so perhaps I should badge it AMG?

The holes have clearly been repaired/filled at some earlier date. They are a real weak point, my original boot lid had to go because the rust around them was so widespread. The problem with tape adhesives is that the weight of modern plastichrome badging is insignificant, so holding them on requires much less adhesion that a reasonable lump of alloy.

I can always re-badge though if required!

Under the circumstances then it looks like the de-badged look promises the greatest boot lid longevity. :thumb: W114's seem to find the siren call of Fe2O3 almost irresistible if exposed to the slightest temptation to succumb to its clutches.

Isn't anyone going to ask what was in the 44 tonne truck?

Apart from the 100 plus evergreen trees?
