Michael_Schumacher crashes!

Schumacher's detractors seem to forget that he has done a lot of charity work quietly
His bodyguard lost his life in in the 2004 Tsunami and he donated $10 million.

He doesn't look any different to normal...

I have to say , I've always liked Michael Schmacher , he's always seemed a friendly good sport whenever I've seen him on telly.

Poor bloke , and his family too.

Perhaps typically Germanicly(?) arrogant but a decent chap.

Really can't see him coming through this unchanged.

I'd put it that he was good - very good - and he knew it. You can't argue with his achievements. If he'd been driving for Red Bull for the last three years I suspect he'd have ten world championships to his name....

I think this has been released to take the pressure and publicity of the family over the opening weekend of the GP series.
They can now all talk positive(slightly)without having to keep hassling the family.

I do hope he pulls the but the realist in me thinks it's to far down the line.

Latest reports suggest he has lost a quarter of his body weight and he is still in the "waking up" phase.
Doesn't sound good, an awful ironic thing to happen.

Sadly, I think you're right... having been around people with cranial traumas, it's one of those things that it may almost be better for said person not to wake up, as horrid as that sounds.

I know I would rather have skiing be the last thing I remember, than spend years as a vegetable.

Fingers crossed.

More details (albeit very little more):
Michael Schumacher out of coma and leaves hospital after skiing crash - Telegraph

This line is worrying:
For the future we ask for understanding that his further rehabilitation will take place away from the public eye

I do certainly hope that he isn't paralysed. Speaking from experience, there are times that you feel that paralysis is worse than the alternative; especially if you enjoy being outdoors.

Michael Schumacher is no longer in a coma and has left the intensive care unit at Grenoble Hospital, his manager has announced. What fantastic news. I seriously thought he was going to die. What a fighter and i think his fitness saw him through. Good luck Michael

Good news, but he is on the long road to recovery, how far he gets, only time
will tell.I wish him well,as I am sure we all do.

Great news.

I hope he is making good progress but this type of statement gives the impression he's way on the road to recovery.

Recovery is certainly going to be long and hard and the outcome is still unknown.

I do wish him, and family/friends well but do think it could have been slightly better phrased or more cautiously phrased as I hope Jo Bloggs doesn't expect to see him behind the wheel of a car soon!
