Ml 270cdi
Hello,

My first post on here, I have been lurching for a while and have really enjoyed the wealth of information Cheers !

Firstly i bought my first MERC ML 270 CDI - 2002 6 Months ago. It discovered (or i noticed) it was ticking. This turned out to be a incorrectly seated injector. I managed to remove one stubborn 1 and then went on to re-seat all injectors. Put back together and it smoked badly All the time.

I have since replaced all the Nozels (Taking great care not to loose anything!) small calibration spacer in the tip) ! Put back together and it cleaned it up a bit but now she Smokes James bond style under load.

Initial feeling is the Stubborn injector ! I have tried a leak off test and all leak off at the same rate.

Now i and going to replace this injector with a replacement refurbished unit.

This is where i became apparent the Injector part number is not correct for my vehicle. All 5 are the following number 0445110096. These are for Sprinter or the 320CDI.

No I am starting to think
a) No wonder the car is over fueling ! I have the incorrect set of injectors.
b) which injector should i replace it with - the same as whats in or the correct injectors?

Can anyone advise ?

Cheers

Bertros

A reputable injector supplier should be able to supply the correct injectors for your car.

Only use the correct injectors from a reliable supplier..... I went through the same ordeal last year with my 320 cdi
A load of messing around and sloppy workmanship had me off the road for over a week with a recommended friend of a friend who was " the man to see for diesels" etc etc

I had the problem solved and back on the road in a day with my original mechanic.

Best of luck

I believe any injector can be used but must be coded as such in star.
Definitely worth seeing a MB specialist about the matter.

Get the part numbers from Mercedes Dealer and hunt around for a better deal.

It should be Bosch 0445 110 201

Some of these injectors are cross compatible on cdi engines including the Sprinter range,
get the correct part numbers from Mercedes from your chassis /engine type.

All use nozzle type 0 433 171 800 Hole Type Nozzle DLLA 153 P1270

Definitely worth seeing a MB specialist about the matter.

Not the early injectors, the older ones are plug & play no coding required up to @ 2006 iirc

This has been discussed; for example some OM612 engines in W210 (rare combination in UK) has simple 1-digit coding, 6-digit IMA coding (Injector Quantity Compensation) comes after that, for example OM648 engines. Newer piezo injectors (like OM651) have 24-digit I2C coding.

Very rare indeed as I am in the UK :)

MB Star will let you know if there's any coding needed usually there's no screen to apply the "adaptations" injector codes in MB Star under the vehicles specifications.

Vehicles that need the "adaptation" codes or IQC, the screen is accessible for input of the codes.

Interesting Cross reference doc found

O.K so i have cross referenced the two injectors and I am happy they are one of the same. In research i found this useful PDF.

There shouldnt be any coding required for an ML270.

Thanks, confirmation has helped!

I have ordered a refurbished 096 to be inline with the rest. I will update with the results. Hope fully it cleans up the SMOG !

Useful document that reference doc !

Seemingly their are plenty of the same injector "types" out there using the same components that can be used with or without the appropriate Nozzle change. (No wonder they started to key in the solenoid numbers to the ECU.)

Please Note this is above statement is not founded on any experience of the exact full list of all components to create a Injector or does it list the PSI's a given injector is specified to operate ! A CDI2.7 engine in a Sprinter is the same as a CDI 2.7 in a ML etc etc. All have or may have differing Nozzle codes / patterns and alternate codes on the top.

Use the X reference document as you see fit. Again please take the above with salt. We are Adults so make your own judgement call on this!

Part number Bosch 0445 110 201 is for your vehicle not 04451100095 or 0445110096

095 is superseded by 096 in the listings.

See attached images.

These injectors have numbers on 1 to 5 I believe, so you might have a injector with number 4 on and another injector with number 1 on

Bertros

The reason they did this was to isolate the injectors whilst on diagnostics so they could shut down individual injectors for analysis.

The injectors have a class code on them which need to be coded in ECU

No

Ganno thats for the V6 models, never had to code these.

Yes

These injectors have numbers on 1 to 5 I believe, so you might have a injector with number 4 on and another injector with number 1 on

Matching the variant single digit number for injector quantity is recommended but not so important as the ECU will cope with adjusting the flow rate if the injectors are new and not worn secondhand units.

Let's hope the OP gets a good result soon

:)

If your going to give advice make sure you are 100% about it.

Got the new (refurbished) 096 injector in today. No smoke! Happy Days. So chuffed. V busy couple of weeks it runs so well! Fuel consumption in the mid -late 30s on a long run. It's been a real battle getting this thing back to how it can /should be.. Since Xmas I have blocked the egr, removed and plugged up the flaps, disabled the flap motor, new MaF, new map. New thermostat, air, oil filters and new oil, fuel lines to / from the hp pump and a good second hand set of turbo hoses! That along with correctly seated injectors so it's no longer showering the block in diesel ! I am fairly sure I have bought myself a few stress free months of motoring (fingers crossed)!
