My C43 AMG - Upgrade ideas?

What badge should be on my front wings? I have "AMG" ones (that have gone beige).. got a feeling they should be Sport ones though, as this was the spec of the base C Class before AMG did their fiddling? ie carbon interior, b-pillars etc. Oh, and it says Sport on the gearknob.
No fiddling I'm afraid; The C43 is a production-line model! Should have sport badges on the front wings.

Cheers.

The guys I got my panel filters from tried to sell me a Sprintbooster, which I assumed was a remapped throttle-by-wire device.

What's the current thinking on these? They're a bit marmite from reading the thread you linked in your sig, but I do think my car could benefit from a slightly reduced dead zone/delay in the throttle response.

Any C43 drivers got one fitted?

(Edit; just found the 51-page thread on it. Erk. The supplier is just round the corner, wonder if they'll let me borrow one..)

Re: Throttle delay: I actually like the delay - but then, being in London - I do spend a lot of time in traffic...

Peter has a Sprintbooster on his 43 IIRC

Welcome! Lovely looking car.

I'm regretting selling mine now, I can't find anything to replace it that comes anywhere near the bang per buck..

Cheers,

Hi,
If you look at mine and Bobbies signature you,ll see the most common OEM mods have been done on our cars, all reasonably cheap too.
You are right regarding the Parktronic, prohibitively expensive to do OEM, though i believe Bobby has got quite close with his set up. The rear blind is quite rare but does not leave a runner through the centre of the rear screen, as Shude has said it is completely hidden in the shelf. If you look at your rear shelf it will appear blue, buy a new one and MB will supply a black one thats what colour it was originally. I retro fitted this to my C43 and i have managed to source another from a C36 which is going in my C230K.
Though my next mod, is not so cheap E55 AMG engine transplant, when i can find a lump for right money!!

Whoops! thought there was a MOD I had forgotten,

if you're driving a v5 Golf then you're still getting the same mpg I'd bet :)

You're not wrong.. :o

On the work run the Golf is a little better (22 vs. 17 MPG), but on the motorway the Merc was more economical.. :dk:

It's hampered by a 4 speed auto, but the V5 engine is thirsty, no doubt about it..

Thanks

They added a wee bit of extra bass to the induction (and maybe engine note, seeing how they sit flat on top of the block), I've just always fitted K&N to all my cars as I prefer serviceable filters to disposable ones and think they give just that little extra bit of driveability.

Any particular reason you'd swap them though?

Quite a few people have had problems with filters messing up the MAF sensor because of over oiling the filter. Do a search, and you should get quite a few hits on the subject.

And w202 electric rear blinds are rare as hen's teeth so if you find one snap it up quick, I'm after one of these myself. Another idea may be to go for W210 mirrors with indicators.....

I think the stock wings mirrors suit the lines of the car alot more.

This is what id Do:

Maybe a little drop? my 36 sits lower
upgrade to the 210 18" amg?
Defiantly need the kickplates i got the ones that are illuminated

Hi,
I must disagree with you here, the lines of the facelift 210 mirror suit the 202 very well IMHO, and if MB had facelifted the 202 again i believe these mirrors would have been fitted, see my pics below of my car with them fitted,

If you look at my signature that is what i have done and there are lots of photo's in the Gallery, if i could i would put up a link (anyone out there :) ) the only mod i don't have is the parktronic and the OEM parktronic looks like an after though the aftermarket ones look a lot better, less obtrusive.

The Sprintbooster is an acquired taste, i don't use around town as it is quite sensitive, use it on longer journeys.

There is nothing else i really want on the C43.

I just wish I still had mine to be honest - definitely one of the best bang for buck combinations of performance and practicality I've ever owned. Still, am getting used to the CLK now and although there's not as much interior space it's growing on me

Enjoy your 43 and if you intend on keeping it then look in to insurance cover that you can get an agreed value payout on, otherwise you may well find yourself out of pocket if the worst happens and it gets written off for any reason.

Cheers,
Mark

Quite the collection of AMG machinery you've got round there then? :)

Well, I say "neighbour" and what I really mean is "someone who knows people I know and who I've met once at a local social event and who lives a short distance away".

I've seen the car on and off over the last 2-3 years and happen to have recently bumped into the owner.

C43's are unusual and so I tend to notice them.

It's when I cycle into work that I see quite a number of newer AMG's - mainly when I pass though some very affluent areas - St John's Wood, Marylebone, Fitzrovia, etc.

You should invest in a C230K. The worst mpg ive seen in my car (ever) when i thrashed it around town was 25mpg lol :), easy to get 34+ mpg on the motorway and its a faster car too!

And by the way Gridlock, K&N filters on mercs usually let too much crap passed and u end up changing your MAF more than if u used oem filters, but i guess its all down to what you prefer.
