My New W209 CLK - Large Modding Project

Karl

Just make sure you get some Kumho tyres like those on Rash's car (remember to highlight "Kumho" in gold/white to let the world know you have them) .. if they are good enough for a V8, they must be good enough for an oil burner :D

You seem to jump on my case everytime I post something these days Sean.

You bored or just like getting on my case?

Grow up.

Very nice Karl, i missed this thread !

congrats, shame to see the w202 go :(

let me know if you need a hand with any of the mods or any info

don't be so sensitive :D

I have always ribbed you about your kumhos!

It is strange in person, the wheels dont actually look like 18"s (I even checked the tyre walls :D) so in time I think I will opt for 19"s.

Test fit some 19's before you commit...

At this angle they looked too big on mine

But looked ok at this angle

Wider 18's fill the arches better and don't look so small. (230 sl wheels fitted nicely on mine)

Yep, look waaay too big, not sure if thats just down to the design of that actual wheel or not.

A towbar... on a CLK? :ban:

These 19s look great!

But these look too big. Seems to be style dependent...

The AMG body kit helps 19's to work.

But as mentioned, it can also depend on the angle you look at the car.

:thumb:

I so need a CLK63 Front bumper, MBENZNL do one, all grills, wiring etc... €2600

Yes, I've seen the prices and they are alittle scary

You can source the bits and pieces to make the front end but it'll probably end up costing about the same as getting the whole lot from one place.

:(

Karl, dont rush with the bumper ive seen a few pop up on ebay for under £500, the grills etc will cost roughly the same, i think in total in paint under £1200 should get you the 63 front end

In no hurry, and im not going to pay more than £400 - I will make the mesh myself :)

Towbars are great for multiple reasons...
1. Less people tailgate
2. Wife ignores parktronic, cannot ignore a tow bar hitting something.
2. For the toys.

Nice car. I love mine, i've carried out loads of mods to it, AMG kit, clk55 backbox, remapped, bilstein suspension, eibach antirollbars, command, electric heated memory seats. Olly's seen it for a new gearbox recently,so have yours checked as he recommended. Mines pushing about 215Bhp. Looking to get a hybrid turbo if i keep it.

How does it sound with the CLK back box? any less like a Taxi? :)

As a part of Brabus off-road kit, I had recently fitted Brabus exhaust to my wife's ML420 CDI. The difference is... no difference. Quad exhaust looks better, that's all.

Managed to track down on German eBay the same style 'pre-facelift' metal surround for the facelift heater controls:

Now, just need to source the same style surround for the main dash buttons!
