3 Month of ownership update:
Ive had a fair amount of trouble with the W209 to be perfectly honest. lucky for me (unlucky for Mercland who I purchased it from) the car was still under its 3 month warrantly.
Month 1: After around a month of ownership the gearbox gear shifter assembly unit completely failed on me. The immediate problem with this was the fact I could only select Drive or Netrual, no reverse and I wasnt able to remove the key from the car itself!. - very worrying leaving your car outside overnight with the key still in the cars ignition. I had to ask a couple of neigbhours to wedge the car in so noone could remove the car.
Mercland came down to collect the car and replaced the unit and I had the car back with me within a week.
Month 2: I had been getting home from work to find the indicator lights flashing on the odd time since I got the car, I put this down to the army of cats within my neighbour which always seem to be jumping around the cars. One night however at around 2:30am my alarm started going off, I got up had a look around and locked it. 15 mins later the alarm went off again. It did this for the following few nights resulting in a neighbour dropping a note around asking me to sort it out asap. These incidents continued off and on for a week or so until it got to the point were the alarm started going off while I was driving the car! I got in contact with Mercland again who dianosed the problem with the actual alarm unit. A new one was posted out to me quickly and I was able to fit it (once I had found it behind the wheelarch - complete with a non standard nut attached). It turns out that this is a common problem due to the battery within the alarm unit starting to fail - it is 9 years old I guess...
Month 3: Driving onto a motorway I tried to floor it onto to discover that the car wasnt playing ball. worryingly the car wouldnt go above 2500rpm and accelation was pitiful. My local indy dianosied the problem as a completely dead MAS. after a new one was sourched from Mercland the car is good as new.
The car itself is a joy to drive, all of my other cars since I have been driving have all been saloons and this 'Sports' car feels great, you point it at a corner and it hugs the road extremly well. It also has a mighty torquey punch which you just dont get with Petrols... (ok, with AMGs you do).
Being my 1st ever Diesel im also impressed with its power and its ecomolly. around town im averaging around 30mpg with upto 60mpg on long Motorway runs.
Im still getting the odd look/headturns as I drive around town, for a 9 year old car it still looks extremely fresh and 'brand new' as a neighbour recently told me

After the sutbtle mods I have already done, facelift taillights and grill im trying to get the car looking like a 2009 model
Credit to Jay & Mercland for fixing the various (one extremely expensive) problems quickly and without fuss.
So whats next for the CLK?
Already sourced a CLK63 AMG front bumper
