My W124 300TE AMG - Restoration!

Those seats are looking sweet Jay,can't wait to have my ones retrimed

No offence, but I'd kick those back to the trimmers. The side bolsters are asymmetrical and wrinkled at the bottom, the top corners are wrinkled. etc etc
That trim job is second rate.

My trimmer local to me would have done a better job but im not sending them back to germany... Ill have the panels adjusted here once they have bedded in a bit.
These seats are notoriously difficult and expensive to trim.

The seats look awesome, but I think I be too worried about scuffing the side bolster on the squab to ever get in the car.

Fantastic project, it's good to see cars like this getting saved from decline. And to think, I thought it looked pretty good before you started all this work.

Well, I don't post very often (spend most time on detailingworld TBH) but this thread is just brill. So nice to see things being done right. Top job:thumb:

No, I think that came much later to W124's.

Kind of agree with you on the retrim, no point sending it back to Germany, hopefully in due course the heat from the sun and some altering by your trimmer will make it all 'tighter'..

Dave at d:class once told me the quality of the hide usually helps with how well a trimmer can work with the hide to enable him/her to do a good job.... how does the leather on this retrim feel?

First thing that stood out to me was the stitching, did you select to go with the single stitching?..... twin stitching works so much better for me, makes for a more quality look, feel, finish....

Or was it a matter of matching the rears?.... With my Recaro's, I insisted on twin stitching, and had dave remove the piping from the rear bench and do twin stiching to the rear bench as well.....

Colour is spot on :)

The issue I had was the language and distance barrier... Its so much easier when you are stood face to face.
The leather is not as soft as the leather ive used in my other retrims, but seems good quality..
When I bought the seats I actually assumed that they were ready made to go - the ebay advert makes it seem that way.. but as the time went on I realised she was trimming them... which is when I asked her to match them to my exact colour which apparently upset the seller a bit as she was part way through the trimming.... and when I sent her the sample the colour was way off so she had to start over...
I wasnt going to push any more requirements!

Next time I will ask her to supply the seats and have them retrimmed here.

It just seemed a lot easier as she obviously sells loads of these seats, has all the parts in stock and even supplied me with the adaptors which no one else could get hold of.

It's a kind of compulsion, a disease if you like.

Once you set off down the slippery slope of pre merger AMGitis there isn't such a thing "just one more".

I think the thing missing from Jays collection is either a 300SEL 6.3 or a 450SEL 6.9......

Pref in AMG version of either.. they did tune those engines, very very very rare

I think the 6.3 SEL is the one that started it all for AMG.

They are few and far between.

This could be fun, spending Jay's money for him. I think a 300SE fintail would be nice, or a 170 and take a real step back in time.

Stunning Jay, if I may say so. You certainly don't do things by half!

Hi Jay,

Yet another fantastic creation. I really must take a trip down your way to admire the stable. Enjoy driving her.
