Ordered the badges cheers doc and magoo, I will see what they r like when they arrive if it's ok I may just use a little silicone to get them flat down but I'll report, i may be wishing i had listened to kid_dav but i really like them so its worth a second attempt and if they are a crap fit then we all know....Just done standard shipping though as 20usd for a small package is a bit steep so it may be some time!

Why buy another badge from MB? Can the spring base of the original badge not be used?

Also: spoke to CKS this morning who confirmed the grills are due in on Monday and expected to be with me by FedEx for Tuesday! Woo hoo. :bannana:

Doc, if yours was anything like mine then I don't think we could bring ourselves to replacing the real badge with something of that quality. Even if we managed to switch the backing plates I was still a little disappointed with the badge itself.

As it was literally just the outer ring which was black and not blue I just don't think it's worth it. Gonna keeps my eyes peeled for an alternative badge

agree mate that one we got was crap - but the amg one on the link i posted forr matty i reckon is worth a pop - ive seen it on other forums on the bonnets of other peoples car and has looked quite good so one more go!lol

was dicussing it with the guys in the parts department and they think will go well - on down side the flat refused to do the calipers now but said im welcome to go elsewhere to do it - so think will leave it for now

Yes mate the one you put the link too. I think it looks awesome and for the money it's worth a try. Still undecided on the plates I have a few reservations still on the look I don't want to cheapen the look of the car. I followed a young lad in a Saxo this morning and he had the Saxo equivalent badge on his plate, think its put me off a bit. I have found another supplier "demon plates" and they have domed carbon fibre letters but again not sure if it's road legal and with the mrs driving it 99% of the time if she got pulled I would never hear the last of it.....

Funny you should mention the plate holders, looks like my dealer doesn't use them but drills the plates and screw into the bumper to pre drilled holes.
I noticed it when flicking through the pictures of c classes I've pinched off various sites.
I guess it's dealers choice.

And no worries about the heads up on the pressed plates, it's the little things.

bought some bumper plugs in body colour then fitted those with some 3m white vhb backing, that was solely for trax with my plates in the window.. then figured I like the look so contacted a chap to make some reflective plates in legal size, font and spacing. Then when it came I cut the whole thing so it had the 11mm surround for the outer edge of the plate.

Voila

had to cut a small piece for the parking sensor and used a blade to cut a gap for the washer jet housing but no issues otherwise.

Voila... Love it, now that is some serious modding for a reg plate nab! Snd you make it sound so easy. It looks the business, have you ever had any problems with the boys in blue with them? Thanks for showing them on the net I do know what you mean but it is much appreciated!!!
P.s I must say I think you have the best looking E-cab I have ever seen... Immense! Alot of thought and searching has gone into your pride and joy u can tell!

No problem Matty, I'll probably pull the pic from my photobucket later on or tomorrow morning but at least you and Barny know what I'm on about now having seen the pic.

I've been messing about with this car since I got it so kinda used to doing things with it now, plus other people i know round here and some others ask me about bits and bobs for theirs so do stuff for them as well, but definitely leave the more complicated stuff to the local indy garage!

Not had any issues yet (touch wood), do get the odd look from the boys in blue but I've followed an ANPR equipped T5 and Octy VRS, plus under cover Landy Disco's who are known to pull cars for the slightest discrepancies (I live near to a police headquarters where a lot of the fancy under cover cars and armed response guys are at with the anti-lag equipped 600bhp Evo 9!!) but not one of them has pulled me or anything - might be down to the plate actually being reflective and legal size? No idea but prefer the cleaner look the car has now.

Thanks for the compliments Matty, it's pretty much how I want it to be now, will see if it ends up being chopped in or sold in favour of a C63 Coupe on Sunday!!

Not tried to use the washers to be fair Barny, I don't really drive it when it is heavily raining - the washers only activate on the 10th press of the stalk when your dipped beams are switched on so knowing that I won't even try to make them "wash" the lights! Will check the fuse box though see if I can get around it that way.

yeah i regularly get stopped and to be fair i love the way mine look now with the amg surrounds now - patient at work was quizzing me about them lol
