That sounds lovely. It's so tempting but I really don't want to risk my warranty

So I attempted to stick the badges on, this time with more success. The new badges came with a clear film, however, when peeling the back off the film wasn't strong enough to keep hold of the letters. Not a great start. However, I persevered and I am happy with the outcome:

Met up with a mate who has a Model 3 (standard model). We have been having banter for a while now as to who had the faster car so after a mini 'photoshoot' we decided to check. The E63 won :D

Went to the local forest area to grab a few pics that are a little different to my usual locations. Waiting to hear back from a holiday company to see if our holiday has been cancelled, will try and plan a road trip. But for now, here are the pics:

So had a few days away in Derby, stayed in a lovely little cottage and although I didn't get as many pics as I would like, a few came out okay:

First stop was grabbing a litre of oil as a notification came up:

And now some random pics from the trip:

And decent MPG as well:

Really want more road trips but looks like I'm running out of time this year :)

Finally ordered a black gloss dechrome tape and will attempt this on the boot chrome strip first thanks to KillerHERTZ video. Depending on how I get on I will then attempt the window surround trim. Will post pics once I receive the parts/fit it.

So, thanks to watching @KillerHERTZ video a few times I finally thought I'd give it a go.

First thing I did was look around for any difficult points, which presented the top right getting rather tight:

IMG_20201011_121559.jpg

I then masked off the area with masking tape. The idea is that the vinyl doesn't stick to it and also I thought it may provide a layer of defense so that I don't scratch the paint when trimming.

IMG_20201011_122010.jpg

Then I placed the film. Now to be honest, trimming the film was much more difficult than I initially thought, the film is thick and I was struggling to find the channel/gap between the film/trim/paint.

IMG_20201011_130105.jpg

I persevered, got a little more confident with the trimming and although its nowhere near perfect, next time I do it I think I'll do a much better job:

IMG_20201011_135104.jpg

This brings me on to the next tricky step. Has anyone wrapped the chrome window trim? The rubber seal appears very tight and I'm not sure you can wrap the film there. Is there more of a gap if the strip is removed?

IMG_20201011_140421.jpg

So I tried to wrap the chrome trim that runs along the bottom of the window. The sides and bottom were nice and easy, so I was feeling confident. Then came the top. There is next to no give in the rubber seal and a few hours and numerous attempts later, I gave up haha.

I removed the trim and then left a towel there to try and reduce any rain getting in. Thankfully whilst it was off the car it didn't rain, however, in hindsight I should have chose a drier day haha.

IMG_20201017_105454.jpg

Below you can see the sides and bottom in decent condition, however, I just couldn't get the top correct.

Sorry, I didn't take pics of all the part numbers, but for reference, here's one:

IMG_20201023_165652.jpg

I then proceeded to take each trim piece off, which feels as though its not gonna budge almost feels like its stuck down, when all of a sudden it slides off. Hard to explain and weirder to feel, but persevere and it will come up:

IMG_20201023_173059.jpg

Once its up, give the area a little (or thorough) clean and then proceed to lay down the pieces. Now, for the before:

IMG_20201023_171433.jpg

And now the after:

IMG_20201023_173450.jpg

IMG_20201023_1714411.jpg

IMG_20201024_175233.jpg

Need to do the upper pieces, I have ordered the replacement clips but may wait a little while as I expect the plastic will be super brittle in the cold. Lets see how long I can resist changing it for haha.

Next up I would like a front bumper respray, black out the middle part of the door sill and then some new alloys. No particular order and doesn't necessarily need it but just to get it to the stage that I want it :)

So the time came for it to have its MOT. Flew through, as I expected to be honest.

So not much has happened as of late. Missed out on some winter tyres that I was hoping to get, but not spending a chunk of money during a pandemic is probably no bad thing. Managed to get a relatively great price on my insurance this year so this year has already been a 'cheaper' ownership year with the E63 so happy days.

Still absolutely love this beast, really want to try and learn how to use the power, however, that is proving difficult during lockdown and the boring streets that I drive on, however, we are all healthy which is the most important thing.

That being said, the car hardly moves at the moment and the brake discs are looking horrendous, so need to try and start/move it at least once a week now which I have avoided up until now as I don't want not moving the car to end up costing me money.

What a beauty! Yea the car needs a run occasionally. Difficult under current circumstances.
Why is it difficult to take the car for a run under current circumstances?
As long as there's only you or your family in the car, and you don't get out of the car unnecessarily, what's the problem? (Unless your isolating of course)
