I think that MB have just launched another new style electronic key thob for their cars – its looks similar to the current one i.e. W203 etc. but has a grey/silver surround.

I saw a pic of it today in a magazine that I was glancing through…

Has anyone else seen this new design?

I remember seeing something on this too. Think it was on a US Forum and recall a part no being posted. If you've got the magazine, any chance of posting a pic or letting us know which mag it's in?

IIRC it's actually got a chrome / metal surround, slightly curvier and a bit more weighty. Liked the one I saw and am very tempted to try and order one, may be tricky getting one coded for our cars but worth a try.

Will have to try & remember where I saw it or get searching those other sites...

I will check again tomorrow – I was I Tesco again killing sometime and picked it up. I think it was “What Car” and it was a smaller MB leaflet book as part of the supplement inside the magazine… If I can I will help myself to the free little booklet tomorrow for scanning purposes…;)

Perhaps Jay73 could help us out with part no. and advise of teh coding for our cars! :)

Yes, saw this in some advert. Looks a bit classier, I think

I think I saw this in one of the SLR movies that MB produced. The one where Coulthard takes it for a spin and only gives one of the two keys back so he can take it out again.

Quite a cool movie as I remember - made me want an SLR quite intensely! :)

Found it (prices from MB parts website, key will need coding (at extra cost!):

Key Part no: A221 766 09 06 9999 £76.20

This apparently has been superceded by part no: A230 766 10 06 9998 (not found on MB Parts website)

Blade Part no: A203 766 50 06 £10.15

I can post the link to a US Forum which has this info and a picture of the new key if that's okay with the mods?

Otherwise PM me for it...

Go for it.

I saw (not used since it has Keyless Go) the new key on the new SL 500 I test drove on Sat.

it has shiny bits on both edges down the sides and the key is now symmetrical

Here's the link, including a picture of the new key...

I'm interested too, could do with another key I guess...

We may need a different part no in the UK as we don't normally have the panic button. Don't mind the button if it would work, but does look a bit loud!

Flash should we see if Jay can help ;) ???

I will try and get that leaflet/supplement in that magazine this lunch time to see if I can scan it..;)

That there is one tasty looking key.

The pic of the key in the magazine I saw looks even better and as Avantgarde said is a bit more curvy... :)

Curves do look good (in the right places off course) ;)

Cool, see if you can get hold of the other picture and we can try asking Jay for some help ;)

May see if I can find that leflet over lunch too...

I'm sure I've seen a curvier one too :p (key that is), but the one in that link isn't bad.

Keen to see the newer one. Can't believe we're talking about a key though...

Jay could have a large group buy on his hands. MB UK are going to wonder why all the 2007 W211 owners need new keys!. The price of this will probably go up like the Evo pedals & the door lock covers!!!

Same key as the facelift W211 E Class, Not sure if I am overly fond of it in reality to be honest, the chrome is a bit too tacky looking for my liking :(

Settle down, chaps - it's only a key!
...and that picture is over a year old.
