the answer is NO.... Just tried to order a new chrome style key for 04 plate W211...

I just checked the old part number (which as yet) does not superceed over to the new chrome key..
As Milton Keynes still have 3000 odd blanks still in stock of the old style key, I reckon they will want to use them before superceeding the number over to the new chrome version...

I reckon it will be possible once like I say the old stock has been used....

Anyone want 3000 keys !!! LOL

Surely it would have made sense for DC to launch the new style keys once they had phased out the 3000 blanks that they have left? Imagine losing an orginal chrome new style key that comes with your new car and then ordering a replacement and being issued with a old style key...

Well there's still hope in what Jay said. Maybe we'll try again in a bit.

Surely lots of keys have been lost with the recent BA lost baggage issue, 10,000 lost bags? Surely some Merc keys in there?

Imagine losing an orginal chrome new style key that comes with your new car and then ordering a replacement and being issued with a old style key...

no no no wrong end of stick....
If you have a new vehicle with chrome key now and order replacement you will get a new chrome key...

If you have old style black key and require replacement you'll get a black key.. (at the moment)

when MK run out of 3000 quantity and only then

If you have old style black key and require replacement you'll then get a chrome one....

From experience when they run out of the 3000 black keys they will superceed the black key part number to the chrome key part number and probably put the price up!

It probably wont take long to get through the old keys anyway, I order maybe 3-4 a week

I gave the part number for my old emergency key to the stealership with the new car's VIN and they said it's not available for that car, but the cars were made literally days apart so howcome the old car can have one and not the new one?

What I really want to know is: is a new slim/creditcard/emergency key available?
