Possible C32 & SLK32 AMG mini-meet (GTG)?

The option is there to meander round at your own leisure, have a tour, or do a bit of both. I'm keen to make the most of the day so I'll do both, but I'm greedy like that. It's the little stories and anecdotes that I find interesting on tours, which you don't get if wondering on your own (even with those clever headphone things some museums have).

Just received a call from someone at MB World to run through final details.

They'll be making available an area big enough for 20 cars to park, and signposted "MBClub", so keep any eye out for it upon arrival.

They'll have a tea/coffee station available just for us from 11.00 inside. If we want more, or a refresh later in the afternoon, we can tell them on the day.

They will invoice us (read "me" as the organiser) for teas/coffees and tours afterwards - they're sending me through some T&Cs by email this afternoon.

I would therefore be very grateful if we could operate an honesty bucket and tally to make sure I'm not shortchanged on the deal, and we're not charged for more than we've used!!

Of course you just pay as normal for anything else - like Cafe/Restaurant, Experiences, Shop, brand spanking new cars, etc. :D

All coming together at last...

oops .. double booked. Can't now make it. Sorry.

MB World have just advised that the tour will now be at 15.00 - which is a little late IMHO. We'll have to see how things turn out on the day. I'll edit the post with arrangements too.

To let off steam...

After not getting a response after weeks of trying, and now a flurry of activity, it's been incredibley painful to arrange this thing. It seems the team there are geared up for corporate visits, and can't get their head around the concept of a group of enthusiasts wanting to visit!!

Despite having spoken to them and exchanged many emails (lost count), until I questionned it they were going to charge us for a drink and tour each whether we took them up or not, as if it it was a conference or something!!?? They hadn't even forewarned me.

Thankfully they will now only charge for those that go on the tour and the actual number of drinks (minimum 12), but it took much explaining to get there!!

It was very almost a very expensive day out for me!!

Still it will be a great day I'm sure. Everything I've heard about MBWorld has been enthusiastic, and it even looks like the weather will be OK - sunny spells and 6 deg C according to the BBC.

I'm looking forwarding to meeting you all on Sunday.

PS Even if you haven't posted to say you're coming, feel free to join us at either meeting point (Tamworth Services or Oxford Services), or at MB World. You'll be very welcome. (Details on page 8 of this thread I think)

MB World website said:
Mercedes-Benz World is open to visitors from 10am to 7pm, 7 days a week. Admission is FREE. Unfortunately no rollershoes or dogs may be admitted, except guide dogs.

...and remember, NO ROLLERSHOES!! :D

(Might be difficult to drive in anyway!!) ;)

Sadly haven't been following the thread until Rob gave me a nudge. Amazingly I am free so will be attending with wife and child. Hoping to be at MB World around 11am. (car only just ready after alternator and water pump replacement - grrrrrr - more details on the day!!)

See you all Sunday!!

Gareth

Sounds like pulling teeth !!!

Good work there Rob,

Your time and effort in putting this event together is highly appreciated.
Will be looking forward to putting a few other faces to ids.

Have a safe journey there chaps and see you all tomorrow.

It's always hard work organising these things - so well done :). I have cleaned the car but am suffering from a throat infection so may not be able to make it - fingers crossed for the weather - it's been rubbish here today :(.

This sounds wonderful. Unfortunately I just struggled through Thursday and Friday at work with a stinking cold and still feel as rough as old boots...:(

I wish everyone a splendid day out. Should be great!
:bannana:

Thanks for the update Rob.
We will give the tour a miss I think, and will probably only have one or two drinks of tea or coffee or whatever.
Look forward to seeing you all, hopefully I can get the car washed before hand! :)
Cheers,
Dan.

Well I've had my car valeted this morning, but it's been raining this afternoon. After a 130 mile drive it will probably be dirty again. Looked great when I picked it up though.

Shame the tour is so late really. I'll play it by ear, and see what happens.

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Should be a good day.

I may just put in an appearance if my tyre fitter mate can do my 2 rears in the morning.
Am on legal limit, and a gtg is always bad news for my tyres. (Just ask R2D2:devil: )

Rob,

I know its a bit late mate but if possible please pm me your mobile number ok.

Thanks

Apologies for the short notice, but I am not going to able to make this. I am still having trouble with my climate control unit ( see other thread! ) and as much as I am dissapointed that I cant go, I dont want to drive my car about with the radio hanging out and no CC unit installed.
Hope everbody has a good day...

Well it's a lovely morning - I'm not feeling great but will pop down for a bit. Any last minute takers for a sunny trip to MB World?

See you all at MB World.

Hi all.
Good to meet all those who attended. Faces to names always make things feel more 'personable' when communicating. :)
Some nice cars you all have there, makes me wish I could have washed mine in time..... ;)
Myself and my wife had a passenger ride around the track in an E63 AMG....
Wow, what a car! It didn't feel any faster than my SLK however, so no worries there! ;) But boy did it sound good!!
I definitely want to do a driving experience now, so I will book early next time.
Sorry we had to leave so soon, but we have a lot to get done this afternoon/evening.
Look forward to the next meeting.
Regards,
Dan.
