C Class coupe C204 220cdi
Pic 1 is the new disc fitted
Pic 2 is the calliper back in place with new pads
Pic 3 is everything assembled ready to fit the wheel

Do use copper grease on the back of pads will stop any squeaking and the wear sensor is on the drivers side its simple plug out and plug the new one in

Sry about the pic quality and the number of posts, but hope it helps someone save a few £'s

Just out of interest, what mileage did you get out of the discs/pads?

Thanks for an interesting and useful thread.

If you have a facelift w204 around 59/10 plate onwards as little as 17k for front disks and pads as the disks are poor quality.

It doesn't look like you have greased the contact surfaces of the pads where they sit in the spring clips. MB do a grease for this that is very good.

I actually did with copper grease after pic was taken, 35k on the discs having seen them off they would have lasted a while longer but decided to do both when the pads were out
MB did tell me when it was being serviced that discs are not as hard as they once were which apparently helps braking .... Jury out on that one I think

Just looked at old discs and the cross drilled holes on the inside are all clogged up with brake dust, so much for ventilated discs, they really are just cosmetic !!!!

The cross-drilled holes aren't anything to do with ventilation, that's the function of the large air gap and the vanes between the inner and outer parts of the disc.

I agree that the drillings are fundamentally cosmetic on a road car.

Cross drilling reduces weight. That's all.

I thought the cross drilling was to better vent gases generated at the pad/disc interface. I seem to recall there's a doc in WIS about clearing these holes periodically?

I agree the weight reduction would be minimal and most likely is for looks the cross drilling would/should help ventilation. And another reason for MB to charge more for them!!
