Proposed Very far South GTG

Just got back.

John, thanks very much for a brilliant day. It was wonderful to meet the other MBF members and yourself.
:bannana:
The food and drink was delicious and plentiful - would you please pass on my thanks to your family - both on my behalf and also my wifes who had a good old natter whilst I was being whisked around in the 'pocket rocket' !

Have a lovely week.

Cheers all

Steve

Thanks duly passed on, and THANK YOU for coming. It was an honour to meet both yourself and your wife.

Here is a picture my son took of just some of the cars that arrived, hopefully others will have taken more pictures.

Regards,
John

Just got back to, traffic was quite heavy on the M5 and M4.

I had a really enjoyable day, as always excellent company and an excellent host, Thank You John for a great day.

Again, please pass on my good wishes and thanks to your wife and family for their very generous hospitality, the food and drinks were perfect.

Unfortunately the people that couldn't make it missed a brilliant GTG, in a gorgeous location, John is very lucky to live in a house on top of the largest (correct me if I’m wrong John!) hill in Torquay, with such a great view of the bay/coast!

Good to meet faces old and new, and a good weekend had by all I think!

Just need to put on some after sun, I’m also like a beetroot!!!

Pictures to come....

Dont rub it in !! :( :p LOL

Glad you all had a good one , John, it would have been lovely to meet you, i'm sure it will happen another time !!

These GTG's are really great, its almost like this is one big extended family as opposed to a motoring forum !! :)

Thanks

Thanks John, great afternoon - wish I could have got there earlier, of course I now know where to find you so hope to see you shortly....

Gloria - great trifle, yum.

Maff, Angie sees the wisdom in getting an E-Coupe, as opposed to a CL55!! So thanks for that.

Cheers to everyone else

Hi all,
Gutted that I missed most of you but I got tied up with something else and didn't arrive 'til about 4:30. It would have been nice to meet the other W124 owners for some geeky car chat. (and also to waste a bit more of Maff's petrol!).
Anyway, it was great to finally put a face to the infamous glojo and nice to meet MikeL.
Say thanks to the family for me.

Well its now late and I have just got back. Traffic on the M5 was a nightmare. I would like to thank John and his good Lady wife for the hospitality that was shown to us. My pics will be posted tomorrow. What I would give to live in a location such as John has, to say that it is good would be a vast understatement. For those of you who couldnt get there, you missed a really great day. Not to other organisers, look at the food supplied :D on plates as well :bannana:

Worked out my fuel consumption, not as good as I thought 32.5Mpg  I think I will put those figures down to a spirited drive. :D

PS John is just as good in real life as he is on the forum. Thank You Mate.

Well it was a long day and a 615 mile round trip but worth every minute and every mile.

Thank you John for hosting a marvellous day and pass on my thanks to Gloria and the rest of your family for all the kindness and hospitality.

Nice to finally put a face to a few more names, but I'm sorry we missed you Janner. I would really have liked to run an eye over your car.

I have some pictures and I'll get some posted before quitting tonight.

My wife think's it's hilarious, I had sunglasses on and round the eyes is pure white while the rest of the face is bright red. I look like I'm wearing a mask

John, Thanks again for welcoming us all to your home.

Great to hear you all had a memorable day, me and the wifey would have loved to attend and meet some of you guys but since we had guests of our own here from cyprus we couldnt exactly leave.
Also was great news that you all arrived back home safe too.

This was the magnificent view we were met with.

Does anyone know what the collective noun is for a group of Mercedes?

And this got almost as much attention as John.

But all the cars got an inspection, this was Andy_K's turn

And the famous "Whiskey Bravo" that put in an appearance, taken from where I was sat

Pics please !! :D :D :D

John,

Fantastic view from the house!

What are the chances of you hoisting up an MB flag on that flagpole in the garden? I'll buy it if you fly it!

Can someone put a few names to the faces in the pictures?

:D We were tempted to try and get hold of a Mercedes-Benz flag. I am baffled as to what happened to Splang's car?? The picture nearest this post show's Andy-K standing by kikkthecats car, then there are a couple of my relatives boys, then we have Maff in his red polo shirt and finally Splang.

The picture above that shows my son on the left, Maff, Splang, Ian and Andy.

I am competing in the local beetroot stakes to see who has the brighter red 'shine'. Thank goodness the GTG was not being held today.... The weather is already HOT.

Ta

Sorry I couldn't make it John.
Had a few people round on Saturday night and got a bit carried away with the home made damson gin and cherry brandy.
Have still got the hangover now
Will meet up with you one day when I'm down your way. :D

Is there any way to give muliple rep points to all who made the trip to see John - I mentioned what you had done to my missus and it actually brought a tear to her eye!
Selfless acts from all of you - I salute you!

What an excellent point..

I might not have suffered with the dreaded hang-over, but the cool breeze certainly caught me out and now my arms and face are quite literally 'glowing' in every sense of the word.

Fortunately for me I only embarrassed myself in front of Mike1, his wife and janner. To help control the pain I had my wheelchair reclined to one of its lowest settings and eventually the weight of my big head was simply too much and gravity took charge!!! My feet were hoisted upwards and the back of my head decided to inspect the patio. Luckily I made sure my shoulders hit the ground before the head, otherwise a few paving stones might have got broken and then I would have been in trouble!!!

I am now enjoying copious amounts of scones with lashings of strawberry jam with really thick Devon cream as they were not all consumed..... and of course the cream will not keep.... :D :D At least that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

A really big thanks again everyone and I'm off to the Rep point icons

Regards,
John

Ooops nearly forgot.

The coastguard helicopter we saw rescued a woman with head and neck injuries, and the helicopter then had to make an emergency landing after an engine warning light came on.

I hope they managed to get it booked in at the dealer :D
I wonder what courtesy helicopter they get :D :D

I'll echo what all the others said, it was a really good day so thanks to John and his family for all their hospitality.

We've just got back (it seemed a good excuse for a weekend away) and had an absolutely superb journey back - 230 miles, covered in exactly 4 hours with one quick refreshments stop - the roads were almost deserted, in fact the first bit of traffic we got stuck in was just as we were turning into our road :D

Once again, thanks to everyone for a fun weekend. I'll post some pics later.

Andy
