R231

I have a real problem with the position of the ignition key, at my most comfortable driving position, I keep catching my knee on it!

I had a CLK 320 for many years and swapped it for an R231 SL350 5 years ago. The SL is way way better in every respect. More powerful, much better handling, more comfortable, more up to date electronics in every way and more economical.
Currently on vacation in Provence and in 1200 since home have averaged 36mpg.
BTW I’m 79 also, Go for it!!

HI CG, thanks for that. I'm loving every minute of it and can't believe the economy with more power too!

Hi All, I've been enjoying the good weather recently and put a few miles on it. Can't stop grinning and feeling 20 yrs younger LOL!!
Car in for NOX sensor tomorrow.

I have to say it looks stunning, one of the nicest configurations I've ever seen and the R231 maybe one of the best grand tourers ever made. Looks very well looked after also.
Interesting spec on the options as well, no electric wind deflector or air scarf but it has that beautiful centre clock. Seems the original owner specced it for summer driving, wind in your hair experience and who can blame them. Enjoy it!

Hi TF, I was disappointed about the wind deflector, but the trim makes up for it 👍

Had the nox sensors by passed today, hopefully never to bother me again.........Lanoguard next.

How good to find I’m not alone in this type of move - having just this week reached 66 & trading in my long-standing CLK350S for an 2013 SL350. I’m also irritated by the dangling key issue & have a very annoying ‘triple beep’ when slowing down in traffic….I have no idea what it means if anything…..!

As was mentioned by @Pitre in the other thread, this is the collision avoidance system. Can't say it's ever bothered me and has only gone off a handful of times when I've had to quickly brake because either someone else has bad situational awareness or I've had to do it for one reason or another.
Do you drive excessively quickly and brake hard? If so then that might be causing it. You should be able to adjust the sensitivity options in the settings menu on the small screen in the dash under "Assist."

Never had any beeps like that in mine, and I doubt if collision alert is an option? Maybe I need to drive it harder......

Unlikely to be CAS issue - it goes off without anything anywhere near….and I’m not heavy on the gas or anchor(!) DO the brake wear sensors or tyre pressure monitor chirrup like this…?

Brake wear and TPMS alerts are visual warnings.
