Re-Map or Tuning Box!

I'm only down the road from Olly & am contemplating if I do get a remap, whether to go Eurocharged or PCS.

PCS will install a Eurocharged map. They are one of the few agents for Eurocharged in the country.:thumb:

What is it all of a sudden with "in yer face" advertising for re-maps!!...

Everywhere i go to click there is TDI Tuning.....it is starting to grind on me...

Just like this modern era... computers designed so you have one click then along comes an advert so you need two clicks to get where you want...can`t see the logic, or am i too old already?

This is one reason i won`t have TDI Tuning they just throw it at you, i like to take my time ....

Install Adblock Plus on your browser. No more adverts:bannana:

That's marketing for you Keith... Wish I could say my 7G was that smooth... It's had ATF change at PCS, but it's still jerkey at times.

please keep us posted as with my e250 coupe out of warranty next month I'm definitely toying with spending the potential extended warranty money on a remap if I can get noticeable power results. Cheers!

I'll update this thread when I`ve been to see Eurocharged. I`m in the USA at present, will be back next week.

Looks like we're going to have a few good reviews. Just what's needed! Waiting on both results ;)

Strange - Olly has sent me figures from Celtic Tunning & a link to their website :/ I'm confused.

Very confusing. I know he does the Eurocharged map as I was about to get one done there myself back in the summer but circumstances put a block on that. Paul from Eurocharged suggested I go to Olly as he is my nearest EC agent?

Maybe the question needs to be asked, "Is Celtic tuning my only option or can you fit a EC remap"

Yeah - will give him a call & inquire, unless they're all the same maps - but I'm pretty sure EC has quoted different figures.

Reading the above has now put me in a quandry!

Celtic when i enquired are down in Cornwall?...and they were the ones that asked me to email them stating why i didnt want to use them!

NOW.......i see this and they are only 20miles from me and not 130 to PCS...wow!...now what?

The figures Olly quoted are the same from Celtic at Cornwall !....you will have to put the figures in but they are +66bhp and +87torque

Visited Eurocharged today and met Andy and Paul.

I got there just before 11am and didn't leave until about 4pm.

It didn't go as smoothly as we'd all hoped. My car appears to be a bit of an anomaly.

EC do a before and after dyno run so there's a clear comparison of pre and post map, this is also a facility to fine tune anything on the torque curve if required.

Before the rolling road my car was read and the file emailed to Houston for alteration.

The car was run on the Rolling Road before remapping. This was a bit of a surprise, it's an E220 CDI listing 168hp - but on the RR recorded a little over 194hp.

After this things didn't go very well. The guys had a few problems with their own computer/OBD device transferring the file but after a few hours of getting their own hardware talking to each other they managed to flash the map to the cars ECU.

Run on the rolling road again post map and much head scratching as there was very little improvement at all, circa 6hp and a small increase in torque at the beginning of the rev range.

The new map looked like an almost identical overlay to the factory map on the dyno (bar the early increase in torque) to a degree where Andy said "it's as though it's already been mapped". So they checked for hidden Brabus tuning boxes or anything else indicating any possible changes but nothing was apparent.

I'm the first owner of this car, it's done a little over 4000 miles from new and as far as I'm aware hasn't been tinkered with.

It's been into Mercedes to get the ECO system checked but I can't imagine that would cause any of this!

Anyhow - I got on the road about 4ish to come back home and wasn't charged as the guys were a little puzzled, so I've left it with them to figure out why there's seeming very little increase available on this particular car. Paul or Andy will let me know if there's a solution.

I'm sure they'll be along at some point on this thread to explain what happened. I guess it could be something as simple as a computer issue which showed up during the file transfer before anything was even attached to the car.

So sadly nothing exciting to report.

Do you have the graph in a format to post up? If not, what was the torque value? Also did they do a log file capture? It would be interesting to know the peak boost values of both turbos.

Could they not try the map file that they use for the latest 250 engines?

Unlikely, but I suppose it's possible that car was configured with the e250 map at the factory by mistake. The boost values should show whether this is the case.

I could pop my 2014 e220 for them to quickly put on the rolling road and compare, if that helps.

cheers, Steve

I understand the map is the same for 220 and 250's. Andy owns a C250 cdi and understands these cars very well which adds to the puzzle.

They did say it was not unusual for the Mercedes CDI's to be 15-20 bhp over book based on all the models they'd run. Mine was a little over that.

I didn't come away with any graphs as it was getting late in the day and I needed to get back home. Plus as they weren't arriving at what they would expect I didn't think it right to ask for them or post anything up here. I was hoping Andy or Paul would add to this thread when they had time to figure out what happened.

It would certainly be interesting to see what you're car produces as standard, maybe there's an anomaly with 2014 model year cars that they've not come across?

Response from Andy this morning:-

Morning Alan

Thanks for the email and sorry the results werent as expected on the day.

As of yet we are still looking in to the issue that we had with your car.

I have seen that another forum member is willing to let us use his car to see if his responds the same.

We are at the moment trying to organise the best way to go about this and will more than likely contact him over the next few days.

Kind Regards

Andy Willis

Well this thread was started in November last and i still don`t have another map on my motor!...

I keep asking questions where i go and also where i read but never seem to get a definite answer...

So now at present i have been looking at this place

So ok, 270PS sounds really great but what about the 640Nm!!!???

My Valve Body Assembly in my 7g box is VGS 1 (550NM) according to the build sheet for my motor ....so what happens when the standard engine of 510Nm is suddenly upped to the 640Nm?......

Do i have to tread careful on the power or just use as i wish or can the Valve Body be replaced with a higher Nm value one......of course this would really make the cost of both remap and valve body not really worth it and the money involved may be perhaps added to the value of the car to get a more powerful one!

Any ideas?.....or anyone have a C320CDI OM642 run successfully on a remap ?

Contact Andrew at tdi-tuning.co.uk If he can not help then who knows who can.

Torque wise it is how it is delivered to the box. Keep it smooth and the box takes it all day long.

Whole point of the torque limiters within a map to deliver the power in a manner which is good for driver and engine. Obviously a remap can enhance this.

I can post pics if that helps.

Many many many OM642's remapped and running superbly well. It's all about keeping it smooth delivery. It is a Merc after all.

I'm guessing its a reassurance point when there are a few people in current ownership of the remapped CDI's
