Hi All,
I am picking my new C63 AMG Coupe up on the 1st March, I have a full JL Audio System going into it and wondered how hard it is to remove the door panels?

also does anyone know what size speakers are in them standard?

If you are paying £55k + for a car get the MB dealer to do

You will only break the trim

will they just remove the door panels for me?

...get a professional audio firm to do the install for you?

They replace anything they break normally.

Or use sticky tape to hide their fek ups!

Hmm, I suspect the 'professional' might be lacking from the firm(s) you are thinking of in that case...

Place I used when they were in High Wycombe did...

Just get a trim set of ebay. Prices range from a fiver to 15 quid. They will be a selection (depending which you get) that has different size and length trim removal tools. Basically a long shaped handle for reaching up the door cards and popping out the clips.

Here's a link for you, I have a similar set and they're excellent quality and worth having set handy.

Is this car not on some sort of contract rental?

Botched DIY trim removal might not go down very well when it comes to handing it back?

Is this post really necessary ?

But surely if buying a car on one of the deals where it has to go back, it's worth being extra careful that you don't do anything that might lead to big bills on its return.

Hense my recommendion of comand's workshop to do the work properly.

Or would you rather I didn't post at all?

Very Clever Nick.

The OP doesn't mention in this thread anything about as you put it - "one of those deals"

I have already asked you to behave. If you cannot then go take a breather.

I'm not trying to be clever, just helpfull.

I think you're reading more into this than there is.

Slightly OT, but why didn't you fancy the HK stereo?

I've got it in my car and I think it's really good?

I dont know why but it seems as if I am getting a bad rapport with some members on here and to be honest I haven't done anything wrong.

I am going to be a new MB owner and really just wanted to know some information on the car from your experiences.

NICk - To be honest Nick i would prefer you not to post at all if you cant be helpful, I know it must be worrying you but for your own piece of mind I am actually buying the car out right.

Sweatpea - I have always been a massive fan of JL Audio and I have a full JL Audio system ready to go into my new car after removing it out of my old, the system cost me over £3k and it would be a shame to see of go to waste and as I have a module to allow me to connect amps up to my standard MB unit it's a no brainier really :)

Stu, you've made a good decision. If you have the correct interface already and decent JL gear you will blow the HK system out of the water provided it is installed correctly.

In fact, even the entry level JL speakers and amps would blow a HK system out of the water.

Well worth the investment in time and money in my opinion.

Don't worry about speaker size. Pretty much every merc for the last 15+years has had 6.5" components up front so i'm sure yours will fit just fine once a good installer has knocked up some MDF baffles for them.

Unless you have previous experience, i would leave it to the professionals. £3k worth of sound equipment can quickly sound like £30 of halfords junk if not installed/setup correctly. (I know, that was me at 17!)
The fact that you're asking these questions would indicate to me that you should find someone to do it for you.

V12...
Thanks so much for the feedback I have the following JL AUDIO:

> 2x W6 V12 Subs
> 2x HD750 Amps
> 1x C5 650 (For Front)
> 1x C2 650 (For Rear)
> 1x HD600 for (front + Rear Comps)
> 1x Cleansweep
> Optima Yellow Top Battery With Split Charge System

So if you know your JL you will know its not cheap stuff haha,

I have done the systems in all of my cars, the only thing I wasnt sure about was removing the door cards
