Return of the 'Sleeper' Merc - Business Line Range

Presumably the 'non-bling' version will be cheaper?

Not necessarily.

If people want an understated look they will pay for that. People with real money often want to be quiet about it.

They do, but can you see how MB could use this to pedal "essential" bumpers and styling packs. Extra £3k options that will be pedalled hard when the car is sold....

I like the idea of this and given the choice I think I'd go for this over the AMG version.

I certainly can't see this version being cheaper to buy than the standard AMG though.

even the standard bumpers from the facelft 212 is too in your face for me ..

Great move - AMG's have started getting a bit chavtastic recently, especially since every 220d seems to be specked up to tarts hand bag levels and the need to differentiate them has meant increasingly outlandish kits. AMG always used to be an iron fist in a velvet glove, where every part served a mechanical purpose first and foremost.

The fact they will sell the business line stripped of all the max power sequence kit but still with all the power shows how much of it is just a styling exercise.

Double post

:D
awesome!
will de-badge my E280 and perhaps then it'll look just like an AMG...

I know of a few people who could run fancy cars through their company but stop short due to client perception, so these would suit them. The E63 market is already tiny in this country so I doubt this will make any difference to residuals. In fact, these may even be more desirable due to the small numbers involved.

Personally I find the current crop of AMGs to be a bit 'shouty' in both looks and exhaust. The C gets away with it but the E is a bit OTT imo.

I think the "depreciation will be a disaster" comments show why some people might want a more restrained car.

Chavvy, isn't a good look if you have real wealth.

What is real wealth?

I like the idea

Interestingly, the article states the removal of the quad exhausts but also states there to be no step-down in performance. Obviously they're just for show then

afford

If I could afford an AMG would not buy one, too loud.

But if I could afford a Veyron!

I like it.. both of my Mercs have been de-badged AMGs, as I don't like to brag about what's under the bonnet. Q-cars are great and anything that doesn't attract the attention of the constabulary is a bonus in my book..

Cheers,

Gaz
