S204 electric boot stuck closed - help buggy stuck in car on holiday

by the way why dont you just fold the seats down, remove the blind cover and then get the buggy out? Might be easier to faff with it then.

The buggy is massive, my wife managed to find the worlds biggest double buggy. I have managed to get it out by taking the buggy completely apart. But i cant do that every time, it takes hour to put the thing back together. We have decided to walk and use taxi's every where today because it just takes way to long for me to get the buggy disassembled and re-assembled.

grumpyoldgit, yes that is what i have tried, i am getting tempted to cut a hole there now to see if i can get the mechanism. I surpose i can get another plastic interior lower tailgate cover second hand at some point. Just seems a bit drastic.

Has anyone else got a S204 and ever used or maybe can try for me the emergency boot release as shown by grumpyoldgit.

Cheers all.

Think I'd bite the bullet and go to a local dealer. Taxis are going to cost you anyway, and it sounds like it's seriously affecting your holiday.

well i have enlarge the hole around the the emergency boot release slot, managed to get a screw driver in the and and poke around, it seems like there is a micro switch in there which when i operate it the boot would fully close and lock (the ram release the pressure and the boot sits correctly).

It still doesnt open, but at least the interior lights go off straight away now and the pressure is off the ram in the roof.

Ill leave it until the morning and see if it opens then..

Dear Rollers

I am thinking that your chance of getting a tan on your holiday is diminishing rapidly. You should be careful that the local Police do not get involved, assuming that you may be the victim of a kidnap plot. Still on your return to the UK you may find that vacancies for contortionists are flooding thorough your letterbox.

You have the patience of a Saint. By now I would have resorted to a crow bar for the opening ceremony and a bungee for the closing ceremony. Were either to fail I would be looking for a can of petrol and box of matches.

Good luck.

Don't spose ya in the AA/RAC?

Why haven't you driven the 10-12 miles to the nearest Indie mentioned earlier???

Rollers, If you can post your VIN I'll check on the Russian website to see if I can locate a diagram of the tailgate parts. It may give a clue to how to open it, or what could have come adrift. Without the VIN, it's a hopeless task.

I see that you haven't made the required 30 posts to enable you to use Private Messaging yet, so you would need to post it here.

Or if you have internet access down there, here's the link for you to try and check it yourself. Ìîäåëü

No RAC or AA cover, i would rather try and fix this myself at this point, the grey plastic boot cover i have cut i should be able to get for a few quid from a scrap yard at some point.

I have looked on the russian site and found the schematics, thats what lead me to make the hole bigger as it looks cable operated from the schematics. I wont give up yet.

I am hoping it will open in the morning, i had something similar 2 years ago, but the the boot didnt close fully, i just pushes it shut and left it over night (as it would not open again) and then it worked fine until now.

I have just used the emergency release on mine, I am uploading the video to youtube as we speak. There is some kind of motorised release when it becomes unlocked so if the motor is dead on yours it may not work.

Once you hit the magic g-spot with the key, the courtesy lights on both sides come on. To be honest it seems to be more of the pushing in movement that releases it than the turning once in.

S

Says it will take 30mins to upload :(

so many thanks for the info.

As i have cut the plastic trim away i can see where the key would fit, now i have reset the microswitch in there the key now works the latch motor, but the latch itself is not moving. The only thing i can think of either the mech is stuck inside(between the latch and the motor), the latch itself is sieze/stuck or the cable has snapped....

Way too dark now to carry on but i feel i am closing in now.

For any one else in the future, the emergency release does infact seem to be more of a push than the rotate part.

A big thanks to Simon_m for the video :) and to everyone else. I must admit i like a challenge and it least with the weather in cornwall at the mo its keeping me busy.

Perhaps he's stuck in the boot ...

Is it too late to add a poll ?
Stuck in the boot or arrested?!!

OMG....it's been 10 days since he logged on. Hope he's all right.

He's either enjoying himself in the sun (cough) for a second week, stuck in the boot, been arrested on suspicion of attempted car theft or been abducted either by the Cornish or aliens.......
