Search a good MB specialist Southampton Area

Hello All,

My girlfriend's A140 (1998) has a problem. The engine cut off after few seconds when in iddle (around 800 rev).
I took it to MB dealer and it was diagnosed with "a fault in the air mass sensor".

I was told that the ECU needed changing (they gave me a quote for £1200). Looking a other post this problem seems fairly common. But a lot of people said that the ECU can be repaired for a fraction of the cost.

I would like to know if someone would know a good MB electronic specialist in the Southampton area. I would like him to confirm the Main dealer diagnostic and organise the repair...

Try either Ollie at PCS Horndean or Pentangle at Cadnam Nr Netley Marsh Several of our customers speak very highly of Pentangle but I have no personal experience, I have meet Ollie at his GTG, he is a really nice guy and very Knowledgeable about all things to do with Mercedes

Thank you all guys, this was very quick! I will give Pentangle a go. Looking where he is based, I literally live a mile away.

I can repair it for you for about a 1/3 of that cost.

Thank you to all the people that reply to my thread. Especially S500Colin and BlackC55.

On Friday, I took my Girlfriend’s A-class to Pentangle, left the car there and walk back home (I cannot believe that this place was so close and I did not even know about it!).

Anyway, I meet Peter there, and he told me that was a common fault with the A class and he will send the part to be repaired.
My Impression about Pentangle so far is very good. I will let you know the final outcome when I have the car back. Should take about a week.

For now, I am off to the Southampton boat show (riding my push bike...).

In my previous post I told you that I was off cycling to the Southampton Boat show. Well, My bike was stolen there! What a week!!!

Anyway, If you live in the Southampton area and your neighbour’s kid just got hold off a “brand” new black Scott mountain bike, please give me the address of the little *******...

In any case, I will keep you inform about my car issue and will let you know my overall impression on Pentangle as soon as I get the car back.
