Just been coming home through Teddington and have just seen a bright red SL320 with what can only be described as 'chinese rice picker hats' chrome spinners on the wheels . I wasn't quick enough to get a piccy with my phone, so you will have to take my word on how dreadful it looked !

Number plate was 'A1 50 FC'

Hope it wasn't anyone on here

Looked appalling - hang your head in shame if it was you !!! ;)

Very true - not my place to judge really ........

they were miserable though i promise ;)

i agree, I think spinners are hideous too

There's a chap at work with a Saab 9000 that has 20" (at a guess) chrome spinners fitted. They look awful, and probably worth twice a smuch as the car.

they no doubt COST twice as much as the car is worth

Yeah, that the sort of thing - terrible.

And your right, to me they are WORTH nowt, but COST an absolute packet I bet.

Anarchy Inc , The second one is bang on the money !! can you imagine buying them , bolting them on to your nice red SL , and then standing back and thinking ......

'My God, What have I Done ????'

just like a 'chinese rice picking hat' !!!

utterly utterly miserable !

The bottom one was from a US site and they were $2995 EACH!!!!! Why are they so expensive? That type of wheel must be the cheapest looking and most expensive mod possible. Utter crap.

Those are the ones, looked like a 19" to me , he was just pulling off the lights and driving slowly so they hadn't started to spin properly either, just lurching from side to side. Made a lovely car look downright tacky ...... and what with his 'cleverly' spaced numberplate the car just looked lame !!

So, if anyone sees him, (and hes not a huge gangster type ;) ) be sure to point and laugh !! I know i will

You need to be fully prepared for this.

Don't think that I quite paid attention there ... I wasn't FULLY prepared. I have to say, I think that these kind of mods can look okay if one's willing to go the whole hog, i.e. Escalade, but spinners are just too loud for anything smaller than a huge SUV.

But then again, I wouldn't drive an SUV (NB: not on principle, just personal preference).

You're kidding right? They look crap on ANY vehicle. At least some of the boy racer wheels over here TRY to make the car look sporty with "racing" style wheels. These things just look tacky.

It is the ones with Swarovski crystals embedded in them that get me. Worst of all, you can get watches and jewelry to match.

You have to ask: WHY??

From a more practical safety issue point of view they are also dangerous to other drivers/riders.

As a biker also, one of the things we are taught is to observe the wheels of cars at junctions as they are a good indicator of a vehicle movement if they are going to pull out into your path.

These spinners will only cause many a false alarm and could potentially generate situations that will cause accidents.

Anything that creates a false impression of what a vehicle is actually doing is surely a dangerous thing.

Rant over!

I saw a 15 year old ford transit with chepo spinner wheel trims on the other week  LOL

I thought that was bad enough until i saw a nissan sunny GTI, blinged up to the hilt(even had gold tint on the windows,LOL)with the very same cheap "spinners" on. :D

How do these sado's ever get insurance for their abominations? Oh i forgot, they probably dont bother
