I spoke to Classic Parts in Germany and AMG directly.

AMG directly ? Didn't know one could speak to AMG directly, i thought all was commissioned through MB.

Suggest you buy some and open shop if that's the case - the LH and EZL's have been NLA for some time.

As an MBOC official it's probably easier to make enquiries than most. You may have guessed by now I'm a stickler for facts and I just didn't believe your original comments - you're not Yoda of all things AMG even though you like to portray that fact ;).

To buy the items you have to show proof of ownership at a main dealer - which prevents people hording items and making a quick buck.

Thanks - certainly saves me replying to your inane and factless comments .

Slightly off topic here..... Talbir I just noticed a new arrival in your line up, an Astral silver 2.5-16...!!!

What she like?... Stock or AMG'd etc etc ???

Cheers Dee

I didn't know MBOC has any afiliation with MBUK ? Can you confirm what official collaboration currently /historically exists between MBUK and the MBOC ? Factual evidence please not anecdotal comments as has been posted thus far by you in this thread.

Do you have a parts account with MBUK ? I do and have had one for 10 years +. So likely that someone with a parts account with MBUK has more access to parts/info than a non-affiliated independant club official ??

I've never claimed to be the Yoda of all things AMG or anything else, that seems to be a figment of your limited imagination.

As Jay has also commented, enquiry of parts and actual order results in two very different answers on specialised parts from MBUK.

Hi Dee

Yep, got this last week. I always regretted selling the 2.3-16 i had...wifey passed her driving test in it as well ! So she missed it too.

It's Astral silver 735, full black leather and manual which is what the wife wanted. One pervious owner and entirely rust free in all four wings ! It's a good 8/10 condition wise, just the rear suspension accumulators need replacing.

Really lucky with the buy, got it for under 3k which i think is almost danger territory with Cossie's, that sort of pricing usually nets a tired example. This one is excellent. Oh, and it's completely stock, with stock Cossie wheels.

cheers

Well that's something else you didn't know - the list is getting longer . The MBOC is the only officially recognised UK club and oldest club representing the marque - hence the permission to use MB insignia and its presence in MB World. The club has close ties with Daimler to the point that now all members have free use of the EPC and WIS. As an official we attend MBUK training and have access to technical information directly from MB. I specifically cover the R129 and serve as a port of call for technical enquiries.

Not at all - after all you only have the same access to MBUK information that the franchised dealers have - not Germany.

In future maybe you could validate your information before scare-mongering prospective buyers?

Sorry, you have failed to answer the question. Please re-read and answer - what is the official link between you and MBUK ? Why do you suggest MBUK is not related to MB Germany ?

And please validate that LH and EZL modules are available for the 6.0 M119 ? That means evidence factual information - not childish comments.

Otherwise you are potentially supplying false information. Your earlier comment about requiring proof for AMG vehicles parts purchase is also false for pre 95 vehicles. I have purchased many AMG HWA homologated parts without having any HWA chassis vehicles. Please validate your comments before suggesting that you have to belong to an elite group before being able to purchase specialised parts.

Back when I was buying bits for my SEC I managed to strike up conversation with a couple of people at AMG Germany who were interested in the original stuff. They were most helpful with supplying stock and part numbers.

They did make it clear though that therer were no circumstances that any parts are sold outside of the dealer network, it took me a total of 6 months to get the part numbers I needed and knew were in stock put onto the parts system at Milton Keynes so I could order the bits I knew were there. Got them eventually though.

There is one exception to this though, I have a freind of a friend type connection with a chap that owns a Mercedes breaker in Belgium, I took a day and drove there and back once filling a van with SEC wings and other bits.....anyway I digress, He used to own a main dealer franchise in Belgium but sold it and has access to the factory via a side door and lots of old chum networks.

He gets odd bits and pieces out, but always expalined Mercedes are a law unto themselves and seem to change their systems and arrangements at will. Except with oild stock and patterns, particualrly machines for obsolete stock, they personally supervise thier destruction rather than allow their sale to other enterprises who may wish to produce parts for older vehicles.

Anyhow, I wouldn't wish to interfere with the the clash of the ego's that appears to be going on here. You crack on it's mildly amusing.

No I haven't - I've explained it clearly . Why don't you enquire monday morning about parts for the car in question and come back to us all - I've already supplied a price which you can confirm. I'm sure Jay is aware of the issues between Classic Parts and the UK.

I'm not being elitist either - if it comes across that way I apologise. I'm merely being thorough before I supply information to other members - something you've been pulled up on in the past.

It's certainly not about ego - it's about accuracy. You'd think after 7 years on this forum with a username stats it would have been evident by now...

Andrew is the (Official) Model Register Captain for the SL 280 - 600 (R129) for MBC. Does that answer your question ?

But who are the bigger nerds? Those of us sitting here reading it, or the two combatants for comparing c*ck size over who knows more nerdy stuff about obsolete german car parts?
:D ;)

Yeah funny isn't it. Like watching a pair of kids in the playground. Both just manage to come across a pompous asses.

Getting a price is as easy as phoning up MB Parts and giving a part number. Placing the order and receiving the part is an entirely different matter. I'm not sure ho club status have any meaning in the business world of MBUK and obtaining parts.

I am sure that both these well-respected forum members will resolve their differences in due course.

pre merger parts can be purchased without need of chassis no's and the like because there is NO LIST of said chassis numbers.

point of interest, the 103 amg cams are no longer availble as well!
