sls mercedes prices in future.

I know this is an old thread now but, SLS's are now quite rare on the used market (only 15 at the moment on PH). Prices seem to have hardend in the past few months since the announcement that production has ceased, with very few under 100k without high mileage. So I thought I should take the plunge and buy one, picking it up tomorrow morning. Silver with black, 7spoke wheels, B and O and a few other goodies only got 2.5k miles and one owner. Prob won't sleep tonight but looking forward to an exciting drive home.
Regarding the gearbox upgrade I contacted my local dealer in Derby and am informed that they will do a software upgrade while I wait for approx £80 not quite up to GT spec but very close. Anyone else had this done?

Yes palmball had the upgrade done at mb derby and speaks very highly about the improvement.

I am quite sure he did not pay for the upgrade, is your car still under warranty?

Thanks for that. I think that it is for free if under warranty, unfortunately mine has just expired so will have to pay still, £80 is pretty good.

Hi Liquid, I've replied to your PM. Derby did my gearbox update very successfully...I'm still debating whether to have the GT upgrade but I probably will as any excuse to go to Affalterbach. I'm even enquiring about the possibility of them retrofitting the GT adaptive suspension.

I didn't pay for the gearbox upgrade at Derby though, however my car was one day inside its 3 year warranty....ask to deal with Simon Johnston as he is the best service advisor I've ever dealt with...mention Andrew with the SLS recommended you to him :). No harm asking if they'll do it for free if the car is 'just' out of warranty.

When I was reading the start of this thread I thought certain posters were on crack....talk of numerous cars for sale, £20k SLS's etc....then I saw it was 3 years out of date lol.

How things have changed! My SLS was one of the hardest cars I've ever tried to buy due to barely any supply and prices which haven't changed since I bought my first one 18 months ago. Indeed, a couple of Merc dealers I spoke to said the same thing....UK SLS's are being shipped abroad which is severely affecting supply. I wonder where these cars go?

Of the 15 currently for sale (I looked at or researched ALL of the coupes before buying MSLs car), there's:

3 that don't exist (they're sold or are adverts for bodykits etc)
1 is a Brabus at £250k so doesn't really count
2 are convertibles (which I would deem a different market to coupe SLS's)

That leaves just 9 coupes for sale, with very few new ones being added (I watched the market for the last year as I craved for getting one back!).

Unbelievably, that convertible with the army coloured wrap appears to have sold (or has been removed from sale, or the advert expired!). It wasn't a cheap car either.

If prices drop significantly from today's prices, I'd be very surprised (and I'd consider myself jinxed!).

The army green convertible is still for sale at the same dealer it now white £139k. I have been having a nose and they seem to have bottomed put in the short term.

I think a big factor is what extras the cars have, I have not seen another like mine with the Forged wheels, ceramic brakes, B & O sound, full carbon interior, including the seats
The car cost £197,000.00 new, when I bought mine, there were 2 or three for sale, the other 2 had not one of the extras mine has and they were all the same price, i was just lucky I suppose

Please take this as it's meant.

If you're paying £200k for a car. In a few years does a depreciation of £10-£20k hurt that much?

We all know you are going to see the value of you're car fall so are you prepared for this big a hit??!!?!

If not why not buy something "sensible" as it were?

Is the buzz not worth that hit?

I'm honestly intrigued.

I got hit when my 911 (996) dived about 6 years ago. Didn't expect to see its value plummet. That hurt me!!

Mine has the same options too, right down to the Ceramic brakes and full carbon interior. The interior is a total waste of money (for the original owner) as you can't even see the carbon backed seats! I think the only options mine doesn't have are DAB radio and the integrated garage door opener (both of which I'd have found quite useful, certainly more than the carbon interior).

Anyway, very few have this level of spec so it is luck of the draw what comes up on the used market, and spec seems to make little difference to the prices which all seem to have congregated around the £95-£120k mark (dependant more on age and mileage). As long as they stay around this area, I'll be happy :)

COMAND.co.uk should be able to sort that out for you relatively easily?
