Cruise control or speed limiter is perhaps more common. As a side note I’m surprised many owners here don’t reset their trip computers for average speed zones.
True but it doesn’t take into account slowing down for traffic, roundabouts, lights etc.Cruise control or speed limiter is perhaps more common.
£1.40/L??Had a quick look earlier - it’s 14mpg average. Reading some of the replies on here it could be a lot worse I guess especially considering the size and weight of the X166!
The GL63 has a 100 litre tank. Useful but works out around £140 a time to fill up…
I'm the same, Momentum 99 for me too. The 'branded' ones are all lower yet more expensive.I got a stock E63S and in town - talking a 3-4 mile trip to school daily - I am getting between 12.5 and 13mpg ... Now living a bit further away from school with mainly A road traffic - I am getting closer to 16mpg.
I ONCE seen 20mpg on the M11 but that was rare
As for petrol - the only 98+ RON / ROZ we can find here is actually Tesco with 99 RON / ROZ ... Shell is too far away.
One thing to keep in mind with Tesco - I have read (can't prove it though) that Tesco Momentum is MINIMUM 99 and can vary apparently. On other forums a guy said they once measured 103 which caused disqualification on a track day. Again, whether this is true or not - it's the internet so who knows
Bottom line - Tesco Momentum for me.
You'd be mad to rely on a trip computer average to go more than the limit in compensation for roundabouts etc because in a stretch there are multiple cameras and any one of those individual zones could clock you at more than the average speed. You'd have to spot every camera and reset it each time, by the time you get an average reading you could be going past the next camera.True but it doesn’t take into account slowing down for traffic, roundabouts, lights etc.

Not for super unleaded. I think I paid £1.379 a litre yesterday, Shell near me is over £1.40 for V-power.£1.40/L??
That's expensive.
Lot dearer than that if you have to fill at a motorway servicesNot for super unleaded. I think I paid £1.379 a litre yesterday, Shell near me is over £1.40 for V-power.
Seems about right:

Oh - and I said ‘around £140’
I thought of this thread whilst I was in a different car this afternoon, so here’s the fuel consumption according to the trip computer.I thought of this thread whilst I was in the car this morning, so here’s the fuel consumption according to the trip computer:
W166 ML 63 AMG PP M157
16.7 MPG @ 25 MPH over 37,339 miles
Shell VPower unleaded is also 99 RON but usually much more expensive than Tesco.I'm the same, Momentum 99 for me too. The 'branded' ones are all lower yet more expensive.
interesting to know. I've just bought a 2016 coupe and going to use it as my daily. However, i have a fuel card for work and need to return a reasonably sensible number or i'll be topping up a lot. i'm coming from a 340i which i average 23mpg mixed driving.Hi, just bought a C63 amg coupe 2017. Fantastic car, I was just out and about driving in comfort keeping to speed limits and I’m getting 25.9 per gallon. I know we don’t buy these cars to drive like little old ladies, but reasonable mpg can be achieved(until you get bored)
Are these being sold in the USA as town cars?Had a quick look earlier - it’s 14mpg average. Reading some of the replies on here it could be a lot worse I guess especially considering the size and weight of the X166!

No idea, but a full tank gives me around 300 or so miles around town (longer on a run - around 400) which is enough for my needs. Are these being sold in the USA as town cars?
My Yank SUV has a 160 litre tank. (35 Imp gallons vs 22 of the GL) Circa £200 to fill that badger.
It's just that I thought that MB were pitching the GL at the American market and they like range. I guess it being newer and a bit more economical bridges the gap to some extent. No idea, but a full tank gives me around 300 or so miles around town (longer on a run - around 400) which is enough for my needs.
Do I have to answer that? Well, if I'm answering out loud it sounds OK to begin with. It's when I get past the 'thirt' bit and and finish with 'teen' not ''ty' it falls apart. Around 12-13mpg but that's on LPG (it would be a touch more on petrol). 100 litres of LPG is costing me £70-75 (would be a lot cheaper elsewhere but that's rural Scotland for you). Petrol is only used for starting and back-up though combining the two would give me a formidable range. How does your SUV do on fuel mpg wise?
Very true. I take the (predictable) fuel hit and avoid big repair and servicing costs that its simplicity provides. At the end of the day though, nobody buys large engined/heavy cars for their mpg!

I'm pretty sure LPG can still be bought for 55-60p/litre in some places - just not mine - or yours!Sounds as though the range on yours would be similar to mine then (I’m guessing 12-13mpg is out of town/light traffic, mine would probably be around 20mpg on a run)
LPG has increased hugely (50%) in the last couple of years around my way. Used to fill up for circa 50-55p/litre, it’s now around 80p from I have seen.
Used to run an E55 Kompressor on gas. The savings on fuel were great, but it was also handy on a run for the extra 150 miles or so range (mine only had a small tank in the spare wheel well)
