I could have made it home ?

Instead of letting the car crawl embarrassingly and thankfully into a thawed out space, shrugging my shoulders and waving at the people looking out their windows and walking the rest of the way home !

I hope it thaws out so I can put her on my drive !

Based on my experience with my S203 last winter, on winter tyres you would hardly notice the snow on the ground and would be happily mobile. Don't know about all weather tyres - I have 2 sets of wheels, one with winter tyres, the other with "ordinary" tyres, and switched to the winters about a month ago.

I've had to drive my SL on worse than that and it was OK?! Sure I was going pretty carefully, but no question of getting stuck.

FWD is certainly easier though. Our Audi A4 copes fine on normal tyres

I was really surprised to be going no where except sideways with any hint of throttle :(

So I let it crawl, luckily moving - I don't want to risk a proper snow fall.

This is 25m further up, then ~100m down to my house :

Agreed. I find it hard to believe that you would need to abandon a car with a smattering of snow like that...:dk:

Small layer of snow here in Beds no problem getting the CLS out and up the road. Still on summers....

Actually when the snow gets heavier (if) it'll stay in the drive and the Hybrid with it's skinny little tyres and FWD will take to the roads. :)

Should go and get some practice today for the Russian REAL snow in January.. (on winter tyres of course!) :D

Well, just woke up from after my nightshift and the sun has done its job. Hopefully my car is still down the road !

Been to see Clients on Yorkshire Wolds early this morning. Small amount of snow but really icy with some black ice mixed in. Car took it all in its stride, with no drama, even up some steep inclines to the farm I was visiting. Farmer amazed car with rwd and wide tyres made it with no drama which says something ! So very pleased with the Hankook winter tyres

i knew i should have stuck the cold weather tyres on over the weekend!

i`ll be swapping over tonight otherwise i know the other half will get the car stuck in the country somewhere!

I have all season tyres on the 124. A winter rated tyre or chains are compulsory in winter in the area of Italy where it spends most of the year. So far they have coped with everything. Having said that when they wear out I will probably just put full winter tyres on and leave them all year.

That roundabout is crying out for a low speed slide round it

Seriously though , that amount of snow shouldn't bother you really , we had more last winter ( i am local to you ) and i didn't really have any problems and i have a bit more power than you ?

Are your tyres really worn ?

After talking about it a bit we came to a conclusion that a combination of zero temps, hill, sleet, ice, wide tyres and a light car = stuck

haha, classic.
