So if I had All Season tyres . . .

That should be your new avatar !

Well, I made a blind bid on a set of 15" Monoblock (not expecting to win them) and I won them.

Now I need to find a 'normal' tyres for them - SWMBO even says she will have a drive without the worry of kerbing my 18s.

I guess I need to invest in a set of winter wheels or get behind the wheel of the KA :(

Does anyone know what steel rims I should be looking at ?

16 inch mercedes vw audi alloy wheels&free new winter tyres | eBay

Although optimistically priced, would the above be suitable ?

Thanks

My partner has a Ka and has taken the pi$$ out of me in the past when I have had to use her car to get to work whilst the Mighty Merc has been unable to leave the estate! :o:o

This year got winter tyres though. Ha! :D

Does anyone know at all ?

Before I read all of Google !

In your handbook , it gives the tyre sizes for each variant of the car .

I suspect though that the kompressor version will have larger brakes than a c180 for example.

I have seen 202's with those funny AMG 15 inchers on though in the past.

I tried to get the staff to lie down and provide a tractionable surface for the tyres.

If you put some text in the search it cuts out a lot of the stuff that is not relevant. :p

Hi,
I had 15" AMG rims on my "P" plate C230K fitted from the factory, So you should,nt have any brake clearance issues.

So back to the tyre question . . .

Goodyear Vector 4 or Bridgestone A001 ?

I don't want to go for a full fat snow tyre as I suspect we won't be seeing anything major ?

Hi
I lived most of my life in Russia and Estonia and during the winter we always used to swap the summer tires for winter ones. The difference is that the summer tires become really hard with low temperature and on the snow there is no grip because of that. All seasonal ones still much better for the winter as they stay soft on snow. Snow tires perfect for winter but bad for the summer as they to soft and will get worn out to quickly. In UK I would suggest to use Summer tires for Summer and All seasonal ones for winter. Regards, Mihey

The Goodyear vector 4 seasons are an excellent choice, have these on the Octavia and haven't loked back. If I could get them in the right size for the SLK I would definitely have them.
The other choice is the Hankook optimo 4s

The other choice is the Hankook optimo 4s

I've just put a quartet of Vredestein Quatrac 3 all-seasons on to replace my Hankooks, which served me well over 27k miles from -5°C to 38°C. First impressions good - as new, they are softer and quieter than the Hankooks which were down to 3mm. I don't know if this is due to tyre quality, load rating (95 vs the Hankooks' 99) or simply being new with a lot more rubber on.

I have yet to try them in any adverse conditions.

Thanks for the input guys, it is appreciated !

I had a surprise delivery this morning as I was expecting a breakers to take ages to get something delivered.

Delivery guy said 'I've got some tyres for you' and alarm bell started ringing, especially after he passed me what felt light just a tyre !

So after I poked a hole in the packing, I was relieved to find an alloy wheel as well. Even more surprising is the fact that I've got some tyres with decent tread - about 5mm - and more importantly they are M+S tyres (mud and snow, not Marks and Spencers).

Primewell PS830 - a quick google reveals they are Bridgestones budget tyre ?!

Only the V6/V8s had bigger brakes.
