SRS Problem C32 amg W203

No problem, glad I could help out :)

I looked at a silver 320 CDI W203 Sport Edition up for £10,450 on autotrader but didnt buy it because it had AMG sport pack minus the rear bumper that was a standard one, made me think it had been rear ended......I have a front AMG W203 bumper for sale at moment ironically!!:thumb:

is this sensor pad not something i can repair? also do you have a step by step repair sequence i could follow and how much is the part thanks!

I don't think it's repairable, they cost hundreds from mercedes. there is a thread on here somewhere telling how to strip down the seat covers, i think it's under retro fitting of heater pads.

will definately be the sensor pad, real bugger to fit. i think i still have a spare i removed from some old seats somewere.

What about coding the seat sensor "not present"? I'm partly stealing the thread because I'd like to know for another car how this should be done.

I assume there is no safety drawback as long as no kids travel in a child seat and while the child seat sensor has been removed. I understand that the only drawback would be the additional repair work in an accident if the passenger airbag is deployed when not occupied by a passenger.

I'm partly stealing the thread because I'd like to know more about this approach. I tried to change the coding on a Vito that had the front passenger seat changed from a single person seat to on accepting two. But the SRS system kept on giving fault codes from the seat occupancy sensor and the SRS light remained on even if the sensor was coded not present.

That sensor is a flimsy piece of plastic with a few little sensors on it and comes completely away from the seat, you must be able to get one of these from a Merc breakers or even new without it being too much??

I have a second hand one i bought for my old c class but never changed it as i sold the car

Can’t help you with your problem I’m afraid, but like you I’m a relatively new C32 owner also with some technical issues to overcome. Just thought lend a sympathetic ear.
Good luck

rear bumper arived today, it is minimal damage at the rear no chassis damage easy to sort out, i will get the bumper painted with a new re paint as some areas need sorting but it should be mint with all problems sorted soon! will keep you posted! once again thanks for finding that bumper for me!!!!!!!!!!!
