Is there any way to fit a normal (pref auto dimming) unit and move / replace the IR receiver ???

The mirror is in need of replacement, the IR range is crap and it looks like it fell off a gerry anderson prop with its silly oversized LEDs... :roll eyes:

Help.

daft question is the similar looking 202 /210 mirror likely to fit? non auto dimming but at least not having a tarnished mirror would be an improvement?

Hi,
Can you remove your existing mirror and take a pic? Or even a pic of it in situ, though a new or second hand mirror will unlikely improve your IR range it did,nt on my 202 when I upgraded mine to auto dimming.
The lights in the mirror and the mirror are an intergrated part the alarm/immobiliser system on your car though it could be completely removed it would involve removing your factory alarm/immobilser system.

my mirror externally looks just like the 202 / 210 version with the red / green leds..

i can't find auto dim ones on flea bay but strangely they are all in the USofA... am reasonably confident that most merc mirrors will fit most mercs... but its a £200 quid error if I'm wrong.

have found a cheap 210 item on ebay... so am going to gamble that worst case i can rebuild this in to my casing or hopefully it will just clip in.

That looks identical to the one fitted to my SL, although the trim around the fitting point is probably different.

Which makes me wonder what yours must look like then, if that is an "improvement"!

To update this... the 210 mirror does connect up... but i will need to swap the top mounitng /housing over..
