- E300DT-W210-1997-Elegance-Azurite Metalic Blue. (Don't mention the rust, LOL) Running on WVO. 65k m
Following on from my previous thread - http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/electronics/76402-rear-parcel-shelf-structual-rigidity-12-subs.html
I have installed x2 12" subs and amp on my rear parcel shelf.
I cannibalised this beast -
£70 delivered reconditioned But didn't work well in the boot. Too much sound insulation in the boot, big, too heavy!
I tried one driver here first but it wasn't good enough and getting a good seal with the baffle board wasn't easy. Plus less space taken up in the boot when in was on the shelf.
To remove the shelf out with the rear seats, back as well as seat, then remove the side bits, no idea what there called.
Top comes off relatively easy,
So out with the jig saw and cut away some shelf .
Getting the head rests off was about the trickiest part, spent an hour on these blighter's!
Easier to get out if you remove the plastic surround thingies.
Little plastic lever needs pushing forwards to remove the head rests from the mechanism.
Then attach some 25mm MDF to the shelf and pop the speaker in place, seal and add a little extra sound proofing (cream shag pile carpet )
Job done.
It sounds a lot better than I thought it would do, very pleased for my £80 outlay.
