Hi guys,
I'm home from Amsterdam and the laptop at home has lost its Internet Gateway (Internet Connection) in My Network Places.

It shows a connection on both the Ethernet cable and the wireless connection but there is no internet access. No settings or functions have been changed while I have been away to my knowledge.

I have tried disabling and re-enabling, turning everything off etc. but to no avail.

My work HP laptop fires into a connection straight away either via the Ethernet or wireless. The PSP also has no problems via wireless.

Home laptop is an HP 6710b and the router a Linksys WAG200G Wireless-G ADSL Home Gateway.

I have about 24 hours before I have to leave for Amsterdam and really don't want to go without making sure my wife has Internet access.

Any advice tips much appreciated.

Kind regards, Adam

Are the connections "bridged" --if so, remove the bridge.

Are you connecting via a router ? - can you access the management interface of the router (in which case it is possibly your DSL line) ?

Try resetting your LAN settings on that computer. USE CONTROL PANEL -NETWORK CONNECTIONS--CLICK ON THE RELEVANT CONNECTION then in the local area network connection status menu click on the support tab and click the repair button. If this doesn't work try using ipconfig in the Start-Run box----- type ipconfig/ release then ipconfig/ renew

I don't think it is a fault with the line or router, as I am using the connection on the other machine. Have tried to repair buttons but not the ipconfig.
Will try that next.

Okay error "windows cannot find ipconfig/"

sorry the instruction should read
ipconfig :space: /release
and
ipconfig :space: /renew

ipconfig.exe is in the windows /system32 folder if you want to check

Dieselman I owe you a pint!

Many thanks, Adam
