Valet parkers and the foot operated parking brake

I have only used valet parking once but never again.

On return from a 2 week holiday my car was returned and at the time I thought there was more fuel in it than was but let that go.

Once I had got home I found a pizza box and someones jumper on floor in the back.

I always use use medium or long term parking at the airports these days, I'm far too **** to allow anyone else to drive my car now.

Not all damage may be visible but I still expect the car park operator to take reasonable care of my property when it is in their possession. I think I have every right to "snoop" as it is my car, my dashcam and I am paying them to provide a service.

It's probably not your first car and unlikely to be your last, take it easy.

Take the example below - if the owner hadn't checked the dashcam they would not have known how badly their car was treated

That's my point.

Does that owner have the right to be offended?

Offended on behalf of a car's feelings? The bloke comes across as childish in the extreme.

Appreciate that you may feel differently to me about this.

Ah yes but the mechanic did have chocolate in his mouth while driving, the deviant.

We used the meet n greet parking a few years ago at Newcastle airport and really couldn't fault it. We pulled up about 20meters from main entrance, two guys loaded a trolley with our cases etc. Gave the keys and in we went.

On our return we phoned them whilst at the luggage carousel and the car was waiting in the same spot, engine running, snow cleared off the roof/Windows (it was December) & interior all toasty warm.

£54 for the week. Spot on.

The video's been shown a couple of times on here.

The car was driven well within it's limits and the overall consensus is that the owner was a tit for sharing the video.

And I'd probably have taken the Sytner offer. A free service and £1500 would soothe quite a lot of hurt feelings.

A particular heathrow operator was featured on a watchdog type programme where they 'raced' the cars over legal limits to an open field, many cars were unlocked, some with windows ajar, and the key remotes were simply left in a tray that was in the open field (no room or hut) Not all operators are like this of course.

At the risk of starting WWIII (I really do not wish to do that).

Here is my view. Somethings in life are always best left un-seen & unknown. However..... We should not blind ourselves to what is happening just in case it "may" be better. Dash Cams (as a by product) produce footage that makes most of us, curious. In the same way, that home CCTV does. Having one, or both does not make the owner a bad person? Looking at the footage (that's what it is there for) does not make the owner a bad person. Acting on the footage? That makes them a smart person. Why would you knowingly wish to continue with somebody who damages your property and charges you money to do so, on the basis of, you didn't see them doing it? If your wife walked up and said "I just saw that guy crash our car" and you were not aware!! Would you ignore her and it?

I never saw or met the guy who was having an affair with my first wife. But in a strange perverted way I still divorced her when those who had seen her decided that I should be made aware, that she was taking the proverbial.

Just saying.

Yes we did this once and had a similar experience to you everything went really well.

I would not do this now though but I cannot say why, maybe I have become too precious over my car?

I'd rather leave the wife with them.

I have been using Bristol Airport for many years (mainly business) and would never use The silver car park, and certainly never (again) use one or two off the 'off site' companies around there.

Even the long stay can be a bit of a pain (the airport parking can be on an incline in many places) especially if you (read me) were daft enough to park 'nose down' against a barrier only to return to find the car stuck in a foot of snow !!

As a follow up to this incident, Bristol Silver parking have offered me a 25% discount the next time I use them.

Hmmm no thanks.

After having seen a recent expose on these companies I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.
