W124 Coupe 4 Wheel Drive Conversion

The 4matics do sit high on their suspension and because of the extended front spring layout they cant really be lowered.:(

Where there is a will there is a way! I'm sure you could cut off a loop of the top part of the spring.

Way back in the dim and distant past there was word of Carlsson doing a lowering kit for the w124 4matic. Certain this won't be available now. I have a feeling lowering might result in unacceptible drive shaft angles for long term reliability but I,m just guessing thats why Mercedes designed it that way? Maybe they were just looking for a little extra ground clearance? Whatever, they do sit "high " normally.

I dont think taking some off the top of the spring would alter the shaft angles. Off the bottom yes. Just working this out in my head, this could take some time  Shame the project has stopped. here was me hopeing for two leather seats for my coupe :o

I know I feel a bit silly:o not doing the conversion but there is loads of reasons why I have decided to do it, sorry bout the seats Ian.. I will keep my eyes open for some, but I am after another donor car so you never know that might have mushroom too..:)
