I have a W202 1998 C240 that has failed the MOT because of the Power steering Pump leaking from a failed seal.

How easy is this to repair or is it a case of replacing the pump for a new one?

It sound like a repairable job being just the seal but with no knowledge on this I would appreciate some advice on the issue please.

Thanks

We're on the pump is it gone can you post a picture

It should be a cheap fix

I also think their is s guy breaking a c240 v6 in the spares for sale section

Might just be easy to swap like for like

Not sure really, just been told by the MOT guy the Power steering pump is leaking from a failed seal.

It will need a new pump.

Search Power Racks Direct for a good deal on a re-furbed one. They are excellent quality and a good price.

You could try some wynnes power stering stop leak in it spray a bit round external seal.does not usally last long might get ypou throuth the mot til you can source one.

Even though its just a failed seal is it not more economical to replace the seal?

You can usually get a second hand pump from ebay for a reasonable price.

The shafts wear round the seal.its very high presure.the seals can be replaced but they dont seem to last long. Even recondition one can be a bit iffy,
