W203 backup camera boot hendle

Yep there are many small ones with IR leds. TBH £79.00 for a CMOS camera is too much, they typically less than £30. You can get CCDs with good quality SHARP sensors for less which give a better picture than a CMOS sensor camera.

But I had it running via my Comand2 with the addition of a video interface until the audio amps blew.

Were you at the Burton-on-the-Water GTG?

If so I witnessed your set-up. Very good picture and so discrete I thought the camera was a parking sensor. :thumb:

This was the image on my comand2, ideal conditions though, a nice sunny day

By all means , you do not have to use my camera, just use my idea and try to fit any camera that suit your taste and pocket

Is there room to fit one of these in the bumper strip of a C220 estate or would it get to mucky there?

You go first whitenemesis then show me the pics...

Seriously considering this... but want to be sure my COMAND to automatically switches to the rear view first

Don't think it will, if it's a stock W203 Comand. I asked the same question recently on MB Gurus - apparently you need to replace the innards of the W203 Comand with circuit boards from an ML-Class or similar. Alternatively if you have the new NTG2.5 Comand (eg from a CLC) then that should work.

Absolutely correct.

The W203 Comand unit cannot be made to react to a reversing signal and show the desired video input as a result. Hence the front of a W203 Comand needs to be grafted onto the rear part of a W164 NTG 2 comand.

Thats a shame. Might have to go it alone then as auto switching will work fine on my pioneer. MBenzNL put one above the number plate in the boot handle area pointing down, much the same as Hercules - a much better idea.

Hi do you have a step by step guide for this install or some pics of where the camera connects to the comand and how to program the comand please? Thanks.

Hello Guys!

I just retroffited my Audio 20 to NTG2.5 (W203 05) and I m purchassing a backup camera for I need HELP?

Can someone advice me what is the best suitable backup camera for the NTG2.5 Command?

Thanks....

You can use whichever camera you want that has a composite video connection. One with a CCD sensor will give better picture quality than one with CMOS sensor.

You will need a green fakra to rca cable available on ebay to connect the camera to the NTG2.5 and coding using STAR to enable the camera input.

The COMAND in the 203 does not recognise the reversing signal, so will not automatically come on when selecting reverse.

Plus not many actually have the video FAKRA connector and circuitry

My W203 06 APS NTG2 had a green fakra connector but nether had the chance to test it after a retrofitted the NTG 2.5.
