w211 270cdi limp mode . whooshing noise . no black smoke at all (Strange)

The wooshing is air escaping from the boost charge pressure system exhaust clamp joints inlet manifold etc etc

Car in the garage again, cleaning manifold and checking all pipes one more time. On the plastic pipe from maf sensor to the turbo there is red seal inside the pipe And its split but that pipe is still tight , could that be my problem???

Hi

That seal is a <wide> one and needs to be perfect with no splits, and remember when putting the new one on fit it to the turbo side then put the pipe onto it and re-clamp.

Make sure the old seal is removed from inside the pipe as they sometimes get stuck in there.

Just to add.....

Had a E270 in today whooshing and turbo boost pipe lower left popping off the inter-cooler under medium boost with limp mode and EGR fault codes.

Removed the center cat box cut open removed insides found the pre-cat innards inside the front section of the center cat pipe blocking the exhaust.

Re welded exhaust cars perfect again customer happy.

Mechanic was trying to move turbo actuator by his diagnostic tool and actuator was not moving how it should , it was delayed and very jumpy!!!??? Can this by my problem.

You have a rebuilt turbo so the actuator could be the problem and not sticking VNT vanes.

Remember solving one problem only leads to discovering more problems.

Tomorrow will take actuator off and have a look for some mechanical isues, if nothing found gonna have to find someone who can repair them. Thank u all for ur posts , it helps alot.

Hijacking again....but it saves another CDI issue. Mine went into limp mode again tonight (same place it happend last time strange) anywho's stopped, switched off, back on, no issues. Noticed when in limp mode it would only rev to 2k in drive, but if I dropped to 3rd or 4th it would rev 3.5k plus.

Its getting its thermostat replaced Wednesday hopefully,so I'll ask to check for oil from inlet etc. I ran EBOD from ELM327 and it gave no codes....I will contact the garage I purchased it from once I know more and update on here as well.

Out of interest, if you had an inlet issue...does it pour out black smoke when driving normally. I only ever see it when I floor it hard.

This happened to me on my drive home tonight. However no black smoke (that I could see anywho). Going up a steepish bank wouldn't go past 2k revs. Certainly limped the further 2 miles home. Now its been leaking something lately as I asked for advise in another thread. However popped the engine covers off and noticed black pitting around the Mercedes strip cover however dark it was it was dry.

Just took it around the block and up hill and it was fine. Went 3k revs plus.

Can I ask when people mean wooshing noise is it like a scrapping noise from the rear when floored?

Start a new thread if the issues are not resolved after its back from the garage.

Get them to check the exhaust system for blockages see post #22

Update !! Taking actuator off just to check if mechanical bit is still ok , we will give it a greas up aswell just to see if it makes any diff.

Actuator doesnt seem to make its mind up when to move and qhen not. Anybody knows where to get one? Can seem ti find any.

Help help , turbo got even louder . And very strange u can hear that blow off noise even at 1200 rpm. Sounds like one of them twin turbo supras... Can turbo actuator be a fault?

Hi Geleziux
Dont know if your intrested but I have a spare turbo with actuator, I beleve you need the actuator that came with the original turbo as they are sync'd together, so just a new actuator might not work? Mine is from a 320 CDI but I think there the same, you would need to check though.

Thanks for the offer, but i just bought one . Waiting for it to be delivered. I wonder if them actuators can be adjusted somehow to fit other turbos??
