w220 S class 2000 Nav disk eject?

Have had that happen to me before. I pressed and held the eject button before turning on the ignition. Maybe just a fluke but it worked!

This could either be serious or not...

If serious, it is one of the 'known problems' and you may struggle to get it out at all

That said, they do seem temperamental, and rather posessive about the discs sometimees - I would keep tryng and hold the eject button for a few seconds - if that doesn't work leave it for a bit a repeat.

Good luck

The small amount of reading I've done on COMAND suggests that it's common for the feed rollers to become contaminated with finger grease from the discs going in and out, so they fail to propel the discs properly.

Apparently solvable by removing the unit from the car, stripping it down and cleaning the rollers with methylated spirit.

Ian.

The would be the 'serious' bit ;)

Have a listen - when mine failed to come out temporarily you could still hear the disc spinning round. Whenever it's decided it's time to make an appearance you can hear the disc stop spinning momentarily before it's ejected.

I presume if it's a roller problem the disc will have stopped spinning.

Mine does this occasionally long nose pliers do the trick:)

You having a giraffe? Good job I know a bit about these things...

1, there will be a plastic flap of some kind in the way to stop you putting another disc in when one already in.
2, What sort of damage will be done to the CD itself by a pare of pliers?
3, What sort of damage will be done to the front of the unit and the slot the CD goes though?

Quite poor advice, supprised off here.:ban:

Anyone got any usful help? or have people had success using chain saws?

:rock::wallbash:

Right, I looked as its powered on, (with bottom over removed) and the laser moves but disc does not spin nor eject..???

Thoughts?

I really think it's sensible to pull the unit out and remove the covers, that should give you access to the disc and show what has gone wrong with the mechanism.

EDIT: It's worth also saying that Alfie on here is the man who knows all about COMAND, perhaps you might ask him?

Ian.

ALFIE PM'D!

Thanks....

If the unit tries to spit the disk out then it is most likely contaminated rollers. The quick fix for this is to get a blunt cutlery knife and insert it about 1.5 inches in the slot so it is ontop of the disk. Press the eject button whilst applying a bit of downward pressure on the disk. this cause it to grip the rollers and thus come out.

If the disk doesnt even try to eject then you must have forgotten to reconnect one of the cables when you stripped it down.

hope this helps,

My Nav will not eject the disc...?

Is there a reset?:wallbash:

Its a common problem on the ageing S class , commonly known as a knackered CD player

A new (ish) CD player fitted to the COMAND 2.5 unit will do

I have been there, £100 will do it :)

OK, the MOTOR for eject must have been "out of sync" as I used a small 9v battery to force the eject, then put back together and its working....well taking the disc and ejecting fine again...
However, my original Nav disc is realy scratched now so managed to make a copy of the original but it does not work...also managed to "get a copy" of the latest uk ireland CD too.
I think the issue is write speed of the disc, what speed should I write the discs?
Its working but temperamental, i.e. does not load all the time..I've cleaned the Lazer lense...
I just don't want to fork out for a new pucka CD if the camand is still at fault...

Copies rarely work properly, thats why it will not always load and wear out the laser as it tries to read the disc. You can get a 2008 one for about £35 on e bay.

yes
